Jamaica, VA - Night one of Monster Slam at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway turned out to be a spectacular night of “Mayhem and Destruction” with Grave Digger taking the racing portion of the event and Mopar Magic repeating as Freestyle Champion.

The night started out with Pablo Huffaker in Grave Digger setting a new course record of 5.28 seconds; the old record of 5.87 seconds was set in 2007 by the one and only Dennis Anderson in the same truck.

In round one action Grave Digger took out Gun Slinger, Batman topped Escalade by inches in the tightest race of the night; Ninja Turtle bested Stone Crusher after officials accessed a five second penalty to Stone Crushers run after missing the ramp and Mopar Magic took out Bad News.

In round two Digger beat Batman and Mopar Magic won out over Ninja Turtle. In the finals Mopar Magic couldn’t answer the bell due to mechanical failure, matching up Ninja Turtle and Grave Digger for the finale of which Grave Digger won by about 5 feet to take home the racing crown.

The fans were then treated to an awesome display of freestyle by all the competitors. Escalade with Charlie Pauken behind the wheel brought the fans to their feet when the truck went flipping down the course in a spectacular crash. Mopar Magic with Carl Van Horn behind the wheel put on the best display of wheelies, jumps and spins in taking home the freestyle crown.

In Quad Wars it was Team Florida taking home the win over Team Virginia in a winner take all grudge match after Team Virginia had thoroughly beaten Team Florida.
