Speedway Making Improvements To Facility

Jamaica, VA – With the 2010 racing season in the rear view mirror and the 2011 season just months away the staff at Virginia Motor Speedway is still hard at work as they prepare the facility for the 2nd Annual Commonwealth 100 that will open the track’s 42nd season on April 15-16, 2011. The speedway has undertaken several new construction projects in preparation of the 2011 season. All will enhance the racing experience for our fans and competitors. Included in the projects are a new set of restrooms to be constructed near the turn four section of the main grandstands, a new registration and tech building in the competitor parking area, new back stretch billboards and a new eight acre parking area for RV’s and campers....

Virginia Motor Speedway Releases 2011 Schedule

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2011 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action and will open with the World of Outlaws sanctioned $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 April 15 – 16, 2010 and end with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned $15,000 to win 32nd Annual USA 100. Jamaica, VA – During the World of Outlaws Late Model banquet held Sunday November 7, 2010 World Racing Group President and COO Tom Deery announced that the 2010 WoO LMS Promoter of the Year award was earned by Virginia Motor Speedway’s Bill Sawyer, whose top-notch facility has hosted a WoO LMS event annually since 2004 and this year stepped up by inaugurating the $25,000-to-win Commonwealth 100....

Adams, Jamerson, Arnold and Toole crowned Champions; Maxey crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2010 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2010 champions. Scott Adams of Chester, VA was crowned the Victory Lap Late Model Champion and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. It was Adams first championship. Adams also received an invitation to the Rocket Chassis Race Wise Chassis School, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a driver portrait from MPH Productions and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket....

Action to Switch to The Pit for 6th Annual Run A Muc Mud Bog on Sat. Oct. 2nd; Two Monster Trucks and Monster Ride Along Truck Added to Festivities

Jamaica, VA – With the rains now out of the way The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway will host the 6th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by Rappahannock Tractor and The Virginia Army National Guard Saturday October 2nd featuring a state of the art 200-foot Mud Bog and Mud Sling pits. There will be seven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from street to unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. Not only will fans get to see hordes of trucks splashing through the 200 foot Mud Bog pit but they will also get the opportunity to see some of the regions best Mud Dragsters covering the 200 foot Mud Sling pit in under three seconds. The event will also include Stone Crusher and Mopar Magic in a car crushing monster truck freestyle show. Their will be a Monster “Ride-A-Long” Truck on hand for the afternoons festivities as well. Rides will be $5 per ride....

Davenport is “Super” in 31st Annual ASi Racewear USA 100; Defibaugh Takes Inaugural USA 30 for AMRA Modifieds

Jamaica, VA – Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA completed the weekend sweep in the Commonwealth State of Virginia as he captured the $15,000 to win ASI Racewear 31st Annual “USA 100” on Saturday Night at Virginia Motor Speedway. Davenport’s win marked his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in two nights. Friday Night he captured the win at Winchester Speedway. Trailing Davenport to the finish line were current series point’s leader, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Completing the top five were Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA. “To win one Lucas Oil event this weekend was special, but to back it up here tonight with a win against this type of competition is just fantastic,” said the 26-year-old racer. “The car was fast all night, we came out and broke the track record, won our heat and I tried a couple of different lines out there in the feature, the car was just a dream to drive, to beat drivers like Bloomquist, Pearson, Owens and so on is just terrific, they are all great drivers and to race against them it is an honor.” “I have to thank Barry and Lance Wright for giving me the opportunity to drive their equipment, thanks to all my sponsors for making this possible, Nichols Plumbing, Dirtwrap, Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas and all my product sponsors, we are really on a roll right now and we hope to continue to finish the season strong,” said Davenport who earned $25,000 for his two victories....

$2500 to Win AMRA sanctioned USA 30 to Add Excitement to USA 100; Modified Entry Fees Reduced

Jamaica, VA – With the ASi Racewear USA 100 event already one of the best events on the East Coast, what could make the event even more exciting for our race fans? How about the addition of the AMRA Modifieds! For the first time the speedway will host the very exciting and fast AMRA modifieds for the USA 30. The race will pay $2500 to win and $250 to start the A Main. The event boasts a total purse of $15,555, one of the largest on the East Coast. The USA 30 will be an AMRA point race with the points going towards the AMRA national points championship. The entry fee for the USA 30 will be $35 for all drivers now. For this event the AMRA officials will waive the $15 temporary member fee for all non-AMRA members. Format for the USA 100 will be hot laps, group qualifying, heats, B Main(s) and feature. AMB Transponders and Racecievers are required and can be rented at the track. Provisionals: One (1) AMRA National Points and One (1) VMS Budweiser Modified points....
