USA 100 Just Days Away; Statewide Burn Ban in Effect for Race Weekend

Jamaica, VA – With the 31st Annual USA 100 just days away anticipation is running high for what is expected to be one of the best races of the year. Great weather with plentiful sunshine and temperatures in the high 70’s is expected providing for a great afternoon to race. Fans will get the chance to meet the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitors when the speedway will host the BB&T autograph session at 4:30pm. Tickets will go on sale at 4pm when the gates open. On track activities will begin at 6pm with Hot Laps. We have plenty of free parking and camping is free but we do not have hook ups. There is a statewide burn ban in effect so we can not allow any camp fires during the weekend. Admission: Adults – $25; Senior (60+) and Military – $20; Students 7 to 17 – $12 and Children 6 and Under – Free. Pit passes $40. 16″ coolers are welcomed, no glass allowed. We have great concessions at family friendly pricing. We do not sell alcohol....

2010 Awards Banquet to be held Saturday October 23rd; Order Your Tickets Now.

Jamaica, VA – The 2010 Awards Banquet and Dance for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is quickly approaching; this years Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the beautiful Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Fans of Virginia Motor Speedway are once again invited to attend the Awards Banquet. During the evenings award ceremony over $55,000 in cash and contingencies will be handed out to the Speedway’s five Champions and the remainder of the top 10 in each division. The Victory Lap Late Model Champion will receive $5,000 for winning his championship....

Speedway Anxious to Host Ernie Shelton’s 31ST Annual USA 100™ and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Saturday September 18th

Jamaica, VA – Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are anxiously awaiting September 18th, that is the day the 31st Annual USA 100™ returns to the ½ mile speed plant in beautiful Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned this year by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. “The last two years the twin 25’s have been phenomenal and the final 50 lap segment was just been out of this world. We couldn’t be more pleased with hosting this event. This race is definitely a fan friendly event. The two 25 lap qualifiers could be features anywhere in the country. This year we have yet again increased the payout and the event will pay $15,000 to the winner and $1000 to start the “A” Main. The payout has produced a lot of interest from both Series drivers as well as the local, regional, and even some of the national stars,” concluded track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. For this year’s edition of the 31st edition of the USA 100™ the speedway has also added a B Main to give the competitors one more chance to make it into the USA 100™ A Main....

Long wins third in a row in Victory Lap Late Models as Adams takes Championship; Arnold, Jamerson and Givens also visit victory lane

Jamaica, VA – 2010 started out with so much promise for Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD but a terrible month of July doomed his chances at the Victory Lap Late Mode championship. Once his engine problems were solved Long went on a tear winning two of the three events heading into the last point race of the season. The last race of the year would be no different as Long worked his way to the front from his fifth place starting position to take the lead from point leader Scott Adams of Chester, VA on lap 5 and then cruised to his fifth win of the season. Although he didn’t win the battle Adams would finish fourth and be crowned the 2010 Victory Lap Late Model Champion. “We would have liked to win the championship but we did what we had to do after all that bad luck in July we went out and won races but Scott (Adams) and his team did a better job all season long and we have to congratulate him on winning the championship,” commented Long in victory lane....

Championships to be decided this Saturday September 4th on WIGO Championship Night

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host WIGO Championship Night this Saturday September 4th. It will be the last point race of the season for all four of the track’s Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With all the divisional point races tight heading into the final weekend the racing should be intense. Throw in the fact that every competitor is also vying for the coveted Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series championship, which will crown a track overall track champion, this is a must see event. The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action....

Long takes Late Model Feature with last lap pass; Maxey, Jamerson and Adkins return to victory lane.

Jamaica, VA – You don’t have to lead them all, you just have to lead the last one to get the victory and that is exactly what Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD did during the 35 lap Victory Lap Late Model feature at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Long started seventh and slowing worked his way to the front taking over second from David Williams on lap 28. On lap 31 Adams was working the lapped car of Junior Carter in turn 3 heading into turn 4 Carter broke loose and Adams ran into the back of him sending Carter spinning and bringing out the caution. That put Long on Adams bumper for the races final restart. Over the final four laps Long tried several times to get inside Adams for the lead but to no avail. Adams looked to on his way to victory when on the final lap Adams jumped the cushion in turn 3 giving Long the opening he needed to make the pass and go on to take the victory. “I’m not going to say I was settling for second but I thought Adams had us covered for the win, when he made the mistake I was in position to take over the lead and go on to the win,” commented Long in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Scott Adams, David Williams, Matt Marshall and Davis Lipscombe....

Two Competitors and Friends to Have Grudge Match to benefit Susan G Koman For The Cure Saturday Sept. 4th

Jamaica, VA – Late Model racer Davis Lipscombe and Limited Stock Car competitor Ryan Toole have been friends for a long time. Lipscombe will return to the division where he won a division championship to have a grudge match of sorts with Toole to raise money for a great cause. On Saturday September 4th the two will have a qualifying competiton and are asking fans to donate to the driver they feel will win the grudge match.
