Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action this Saturday July 9th to host the Steel Block Bandits in the $3000 to win Firecracker 30 as part of the WIX Filters 100 Nights of Racing.

The buzz about this weekend’s event continues to get louder with talk of a record car count for the touring series second visit to the speedway.

Some of the region’s top late model talent will for on hand for the Series return visit to the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA and will have to contend with a strong local contingent led by defending champion Scott Adams of Chester, VA, defending race winner Matt Marshall of Stuarts Draft, VA, Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA, Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA and rookie Kenny Moreland of Mechanicsville, MD.

Making the night even more exciting will be a huge belated 4th of July fireworks extravaganza that is sure to please the whole family.

The night’s activities will also include the Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action.

Competitor gates for Saturday, July 9th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday July 9th: Steel Block Bandits Late Models (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Steel Block Bandits will run qualifying, heats, B Main(s) and Feature. All track divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.

Admission price for Adults $15, seniors (60+) $12; military $10, students 7 – 17 years old $6 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes for this special event will be $25.

To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA.
