Virginia Army National Guard / NAPA of King William Night this Saturday August 13th; Point Battles Tight

Jamaica, VA — Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday August 13th and host NAPA of King William / Virginia Army National Guard Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing! The night’s activities will include several special displays by the Virginia Army National Guard. On the grounds will be the National Guard AMA Pro Superbikes and simulator; the #29 National Guard Late Model of Brandon Butler and the Rolling Thunder Humvee. Competitor gates for Saturday, August 13th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday August 13th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $10, seniors (60+) $8; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $5, students 13 – 17 years old $7, children 7 to 12 $4 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. — CHAMPIONSHIP POINT BATTLES HEATING UP: The battle for the point championships are heating up in every division and the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship is still up in the air as to who has the inside track for the $2000 prize and big eagle trophy. In the Victory Lap Late Models David Williams closed the gap on current point leader Scott Adams to 26 points. In the Budweiser Modifieds Dan Arnold of Chester, VA extended his point lead to nine points over Brian Maxey of King George, VA; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Todd Traylor closed the gap on Roger Jamerson for the top spot to just three points and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division Wesley Givens Mechanicsville, VA clings to a five point advantage over Joe Ender of Glen Allen, VA. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM.
