JAMAICA, VA – As many of you have already read in the Newspaper and on Facebook, there will be no racing in 2020. After reading Executive order 65, Bill Sawyer has decided he will not operate and run the track without fans. and with the current restrictions, we do anticipate the chance to race any time soon. For that reason, we will not open for the 2020 season and will step back and get ready for an even bigger and better 2021 racing season. Stay safe and healthy. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE RACE WITH NO FANS IN THE STANDS....

Speedway Postpones Start Of 2020 Season Due To COVID 19 Pandemic

Jamaica, VA – In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Virginia Motor Speedway will be postponing the start of the 2020 season. This decision comes per recent CDC guidelines, and the State of Virginia banning events of 10 or more people. Officials of Virginia Motor Speedway will continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with federal, state, local, and public health officials, along with information based on guidelines from the CDC to determine when it will be safe to reopen. The health and safety of our race fans and drivers is our top priority. Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway has released the 2020 rules packages for the Fastrak Pro Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds and Truckin Thunder Sportsman, and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. It is the responsibility of the driver/crews to read the new rules fully as all divisions and General Rules may have changed for 2020. Jamaica, VA – The 2020 driver registration and driver information sheets are now updated on the website. 2020 registrations are now being accepted. Please make sure you send in all three forms when registering, as it will speed up the process on opening night April 4. You will need to fill out a Driver Registration, Driver Information Sheet and W9. Pro Late Model drivers will also need to fill out the FASTRAK Membership forms to be eligible for regional points. Jamaica, VA – With the speedway’s special events having already been released several weeks ago, Virginia Motor Speedway officials have now released the rest of the 2020 schedule. It will mark the 51st season of action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The schedule includes eleven (11) nights of weekly racing action, the return of 410 sprint cars with the April 16th Thursday Night Thunder featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions and Tony Stewart, two Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned events – the May 30th $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth and the August 1st $20,000 to win 44th Annual USA 100; the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship for FASTRAK Pro Late Models, the return of the history-making $51,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment weekend and two mud bogs at the facilities state-of-the-art 200 mud bog pit. The 2020 season will open on Saturday, April 4th with Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring a full program that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock, divisions. Speedway Crowns 2019 Champions; McClendon crowned Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2019 and 50th Anniversary season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2019 champions. During the night’s events, over $36,000 in cash and prizes was handed out; of that, almost $27,000 was in cash. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned Champion and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This year’s title marked Williams’s third Championship in the Pro Late Model division and sixth overall Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Joe Weiss of Elizabeth City, NC was crowned Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Weiss also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. In the Budweiser Modified division Hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA was crowned Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car division James Givens of Henrico, VA was crowned Champion and received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This Championship is Givens’ third Limited Stock title in a row and fourth overall. During his speech Givens announced he would be moving up to the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division in 2020. The speedway also crowns an overall Dirt Series Champion, which pits all four divisions against each other. Hunter McClendon, on the strength of his three wins and his eight top 5’s, won the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special 50th Anniversary trophy that goes along with winning the title. Special achievement award winners for the 2019 season included: The Rookies of the Year were Matt Glanden of Denton, MD in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Dave Lane of Hayes, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Jeremiah Marshall of Stuarts Draft, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Paige Vassallo of Woodforde, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250. The 51st season of racing at Virginia Motor Speedway will start April 4, 2020 with Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials have released the dates for the speedway’s marquee events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for special events at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The season’s first marquee event will be held Thursday, April 16th, with the return of 410 sprint cars for a $10,000 to win, $1000 to start event. Thursday Night Thunder will once again feature the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series in action. The UMP Modified division will again be the support class for this must-see event. May 30th sees the return of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series for the $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth along with a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. After being rained out in 2019 speedway officials are eager to host this marquee event. August 1st, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stars, and cars will return for the 44th Annual USA 100 and pay $20,000 to win. There will also be a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. The FASTRAK Racing Series Touring Series competitors will get one more chance to get dialed in for the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship on Saturday, August 22nd, with the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. The event will mark the third $3000 to win event of the season for the Pro Late Model division. With the success of the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the event would once again make history and pay a whopping $50,000 to win and $2050 to start Friday and Saturday, September 18-19, 2020. With 113 of the country’s best Pro Late Models in attendance for the 2019 edition, everyone is excited to see what 2020 has to offer. Jamaica, VA – Officials for The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have released the 2020 mud bog dates. The 16th annual Mud Mayhem will be held on Saturday, May 2, which is two weeks earlier than in previous years. The 16th annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog will once again be the first Saturday of October, which is October 3. “We wanted to make sure our competitors and fans could mark their calendars for 2020 and be ready for what is going to be another great year of mud bogging,” commented track GM Clarke Sawyer. The divisions will remain the same Super Stock A&B, Mod A&B, Pro Mod A& B, Unlimited Bog, Unlimited X Tractor, Obstacle X and both drag classes X-Cut and XX-Paddle. Rules will be posted in a few weeks. Gates will open for both shows at 9 am, for registration and inspection, with the mud bog beginning at noon....

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will bring to a close the very successful 50th anniversary season with the 2019 Awards Banquet on Saturday, November 16, 2019. The event will head back the Virginia Beach and held at the beautiful DoubleTree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by going to the Speedway’s website at www.vamotorspeedway.com and printing off the order form or by calling Dave Seay or Brian Tidball at the Speedway’s office Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm. Tickets can be purchased with a Mastercard, Visa, or Discover by calling the speedway. Tickets for this special occasion are only $40 per person and include a buffet dinner and the Awards Ceremony. There are special room rates of $79 per night with the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort. All Virginia Motor Speedway drivers, crews, and families are encouraged to attend this year’s banquet. There are no limits on the number of tickets a person can order. All ticket purchases must be made by November 12, 2019. Fans of Virginia Motor Speedway are once again invited to attend the Awards Banquet. During the evening’s award ceremony over $55,000 in cash and contingencies will be handed out to the Speedway’s four Champions and the remainder of the top 10 in each division. Jamaica, VA – The 15th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by Atlantic Broadband, WhosYourDriver.org, and James River Equipment saw a huge fan count and a large truck count. Trey Moody set the only track record in the Pro Mod A division with a 4.095 second run, breaking a record that had stood since 2015, he picked up a $100 bonus in Tadpoles Break the Record Challenge presented by E&E Caulking. Two drivers won the Atkins Propane King of the Hill Double down bonus by winning both divisions in their class.
