$20,000 to Win 43rd Annual USA 100 Set for This Saturday, June 15th

Jamaica, VA – After losing the King of the Commonwealth to rain in April officials and fans are both excited for this Saturday’s (June 15) $20,000 to win 43rd Annual USA 100 to get the green flag. In just a matter of days, the Ultimate Super Late Models series will make their return to Virginia Motor Speedway to battle for the $20,000 top prize. The USA 100 will see some of the region’s top dirt late model talent in action. Joining the Ultimate Super Late Model Series once again will be a $3000 to win FASTRAK Racing Series tour event for Pro (Crate) Late Models. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 15th, will open at 3 pm with spectator gates opening at 4 pm. On track activities will begin at 6:00 pm with hot laps. Adult tickets are just $30; seniors (60+) $25; military $25; students 13 – 17 years old $15; and children 12 and under free. Pit passes, regardless of age, will be $40. All tickets will be sold the day of the event. 16” coolers are welcomed, but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking, and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come, first served basis. Weather Forces Speedway To Cancel Racing Activities for Saturday, June 8

Jamaica, VA – After much discussion and thought speedway management has made the decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday, June 8th due to large amounts of rain on Friday the 7th and the probability of rain much of the day in Saturday, June 8th. Rainfall amounts of near 2” is expected today with another ½” expected for Saturday. It is the third rain out of the season. “We have a lot of competitors and fans who travel an enormous amount of highway miles to attend our events,” said track owner Bill Sawyer. “We don’t want anyone to have the burden of making a long trip for nothing.” Sawyer added, “we hate to have to cancel tomorrow’s racing but with the amount of rain we are expecting today into tomorrow we felt it best just to make the call.” Next up for the speedway will be the $20,000 to win 43rd Annual USA 100 on Saturday, June 15th. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors will compete in a 60-lap feature for the $20,000 top prize. Speedway Returns to Racing This Saturday, June 8 to Host Northern Neck Chevrolet Night

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing on Saturday, June 8th and host Northern Neck Chevrolet Night. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side by side racing! Heading into week 5 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA holds a 5-point advantage over Justin Williams of Concord, VA in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model points. With the division averaging 26 cars a week, this is the most competitive division at the speedway. In the Budweiser Modified division, there have been three different winners in as many races with defending champion Hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA holding a 20-point lead over Lance Grady of Hanover, VA in the race for the championship. The tightest points battle is in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division where Tyler Shipp of Mechanicsville, VA holds a slim 1-point advantage over defending champion Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA. Justin Williams Makes it Two in a Row with Pro Late Model Victory; McClendon, Shelton and Givens also Visit WhosYourDriver.org Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – Another huge field of twenty-seven Victory Lap Pro Late Models took the green flag and for the second straight week Justin Williams of Concord, VA picked up the victory. This week though it wasn’t as easy as Williams had to work through lapped traffic to catch Jared Powell of Charlottesville, VA to even have a chance to battle for the lead. On lap 20 of the 35 lap feature Powell would drift up in turn 2 giving Williams the chance to get by for the lead. Once out front Williams would hold a three car length cushion over Powell to the checkers. “If not for that heavy traffic I am not sure I could have gotten by Powell and Almond, my car could just drive through traffic a little easier,” commented Williams in Whosyourdriver.org victory lane. Jared Powell, Corey Almond, Matt Glanden and Davis Lipscombe rounded out the top five. In other action Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA took the lead from Joe Weiss of Elizabeth City, NC on lap 18 and then went on to scored his first Truckin thunder Sportsman of the season; hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA took the lead on lap 19 of the Budweiser Modified feature and never looked back to score his first win of 2019 and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 25 lap feature James Givens of Henrico, VA grabbed the lead on the drop of the green from his fourth place start spot and went on to score his second win of the season. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 35 lap feature Corey Almond and Jared Powell led the 27 car field to green with Powell grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Once out front Powell put some distance between himself and the rest of the field. By lap 9 Powell began working traffic followed by Almond, Matt Glanden and Justin Williams. Williams got by Almond for second on lap 12 and set out to catch Powell. Powell and Williams worked their way through traffic with the laps winding down. On lap 18 Williams caught Powell in traffic, it took a couple of laps for Williams to find an opening but on lap 20 Powell drifted up in turn 2 allowing Williams just enough to get by. Once out front Williams kept a two car length advantage over Powell all the way to the checkers. Jared Powell, Corey Almond, Matt Glanden and Davis Lipscombe rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Joe Weiss and Matt Ashworth led the field to green with Ashworth taking the lead out of turn 2. Ashworth would pace the field until Weiss worked his way under him in turn 4 with the two racing side by side to the line. Ashworth would hold the spot until turn 1 when Weiss would sweep his outside to take over the lead. Tim Shelton would get by Ashworth for second on lap 10 sweeping to his outside in turn 4. It would take Shelton 10 laps to get to Weiss, one he did the two went to battling for the top spot. On lap 18 Weiss and Shelton made it three wide out of turn 4 as the two split a lapped car with Weiss down low and Shelton on the high side. Shelton would grab the lead sweeping past Weiss in turn one. Once out front Shelton never looked back cruising to his first win of the season followed by Joe Weiss, Tyler Shipp, Chase Burrow and Tommy Upshaw rounding out the top five. In the Budweiser Modified 30 lap feature Jeff Sollingoer and Jeremiah Marshall led the field to green with Marshall taking the lead out of turn 4. Marshall would hold the lead until lap 4 when Lance Grady grab the lead. Marshall would take the lead back on the next lap only to lose it again on lap 8 when Grady got back to take over the top spot. On lap 10 Hunter McClendon and Chase Butler got by for second and third. On lap 18 McClendon slid up in front of Grady in turn 1 to take the lead followed by Butler. Once out front McClendon kept enough of a cushion on Butler to bring home the win followed by Butler, Grady, Brandon Galloway and Jeff Solinger. In the Collision One Limited Stock 25 lap feature Justin Pullen and Marty Coltrain led the 19 car field to green with James Givens grabbing the lead out of turn 2 from his fourth place starting position followed to second by Trent Clemans. By lap 5 Givens had stretched his lead to just shy of s full straight. By lap 10 Givens still held a sizeable lead over the battle for second between Clemans and Cory Bradley. On lap 13 the best battle on the track was the one for second between Clemans and Bradley. Caution would fly on lap 14 when two lapped cars got together coming out of turn 2 with Givens making it three wide to their inside. On the restart Givens jumped to a couple car length lead while Clemans worked to hold off Bradley for second. With five laps left Clemans and Bradley closed the gap to Givens to a car length. But neither driver could muster enough to get to his bumper with Givens going on to score the win. Clemans, Bradley, Chad Champion and Marty Coltrain rounded out the top five. Justin Williams Takes Pro Late Model Checkers; Arnold, Shipp and Bowler also Visit WhosYourDriver.org Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – If tonight is any indication on what is to come the Victory Lap Pro Late Model competitors may be in for a long year. Justin Williams of Concord, VA looked like the Justin Williams of old, taking the lead from Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA on lap 13 and then putting some distance on himself and the rest of the field. A caution with two to go saw Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA take over second but fall short of catching Williams on the final lap. “I can’t thank David and Corey Almond for helping me put this deal together, this new Barry Wright ICON is now two for four and we couldn’t be happier”, commented Williams in WhosYourDriver.org Victory Lane. Rounding out the top five were Corey Almond, Davis Lipscombe, Matt Glanden and Kyle Lear In other action Tyler Shipp of Mechanicsville, VA made it two in a row in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division; Chris Arnold of Matoaca, VA grabbed the lead from Rick Hulson of Glen Burnie, MD on lap 13 and drive to the Budweiser Modified feature and in the Collision One Limited Stock feature Brandon Bowler of Gloucester, VA made a last lap, last corner pass to grab his career first victory. Matt Glanden and Davis Lipscombe led the 25 car field to green with Lipscombe grabbing the lead out of turn 4 followed by Justin Williams. On the next lap Glanden got by Williams for second only to have Williams take back second on the next lap in turn 3. On lap 12 Williams began his assault on Lipscombe for the lead. On lap 13 Williams got inside Lipscombe for the lead. Once out from Williams looked like his old self pulling away from field. On lap 24 with Williams pulling away from the field, everything almost went up in smoke when Williams went to the outside of a lapped car into turn 1 touching and sending his car up in the cushion. Williams would make the save and continue on with the lead. A Caution with two to go would close the field on the leader’s bumper. On the restart Williams got a good jump on the field and Corey Almond got inside Lipscombe in turn 2 to take over second. Williams would go on to an almost 2 second win with Corey Almond, Davis Lipscombe, Matt Glanden and Kyle Lear rounding out the top five. In the Budweiser Modified 30 lap feature two newcomers, Ray Kable and Rick Hulson, led the field to green with Hulson grabbing the lead on the opening lap. Week one winner Francis Jarrell would quickly jump to second followed by Chris Arnold. The top three began working traffic on lap 6 with Hulson holding on to the lead. On lap 7 Arnold would drive under Jarrelle in turn 3 to take over second. Arnold then set out to reel in Hulson. On lap 11 Arnold began looking for a way around the leader. On lap 13 Arnold found the opening, working inside of Hulson in turn 3 and completing a slide job in turn 4 to take over the lead. Once out front Arnold held a car-length advantage over week 1 winner Hunter MCClendon. Over the remaining fifteen laps McClendon would stay close but Arnold would have enough to hold on for the win. Hunter McClendon, Joey Polevoy, Ray Kable and Lance Grady rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Steve Causey and Tyler Shipp led the field to green with Shipp grabbing the lead on the first circuit followed by fast qualifier and sixth starting Joe Weiss. By lap 10 Shipp had stretched the lead out to about five car lengths as the two began working lapped traffic. Caution would come out on lap 17 when Tommy Upshaw pulled his car to pit road with the motor on fire. On the restart Weiss worked the inside of Shipp in turn 3 and looked to maybe have a run only to be turned away in turn 1. With five laps remaining Weiss and Tim Shelton battled for second as Shipp pulled away. Shipp would go on to score a full straight win over Joe Weiss and Tim Shelton. Brett Adkins and Steve Causey rounded out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock 25 lap feature Raymond Harper and Marty Coltrain led the field to green. The battle for the lead went three-wide real quick as Cory Bradley jumped to their outside. Bradley would come out with the lead followed by Harper and Chad Champion. The races first caution would fly when Harper would spin in turn 4. On the restart James Givens got by Champion for second. On lap 16 Bradley got back inside the leader with Givens holding on to the lead. On lap 18 Bradley got back inside Givens in turn 3 and grabbing the lead out of turn 4. Givens would get back outside of Bradley in turn 1 with the two getting together in turn 3 bringing out the checkers handing the lead to Champion. On the restart Champion held off Trent Clemans heading into turn 1. On the next lap Brandon Bowler got by Clemans for second. Bowler would reel in Champion as the laps with the laps winding down. On the final lap Champion had Bowler on his bumper, as the two entered turn 4 Bowler made his move and would take the win at the line by .240 seconds. Speedway to Host Week 3 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing this Saturday May 25th

Jamaica, VA – After a very successful mud bog over at The Pit, Virginia Motor Speedway will get back to some exciting dirt track racing and will host week 3 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season this Saturday May 25th and feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side by side action. Competitor gates for Saturday May 25th will open at 3pm and spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 13 – 17 years old $6 and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short-wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So, bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.
