PARKS SCORES EMOTIONAL PRO LATE MODEL VICTORY; McCLENDON, WEISS AND GIVENS ALSO SCORE WINS

Jamaica, VA – Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA grabbed the lead on the opening green flag and led all 35 laps of the Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on way to a very emotional victory on WRAR / WNNT Night at the Races. Parks and Matt Tarbox of Brandywine, MD led the field to green with parks jumping to the lead from the outside of turn 2. Once out front Parks put on a driving clinic to pick up the victory. “This is a very emotional win for me; I lost my dad several weeks back and this one is for him,“ commented a tearful Parks in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were matt Quade, Corey Almond, Davis Lipscombe and Camden Testerman. In other action Hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA took the lead from Ryan Toole of Henrico, NC and went on to score the Budweiser Modified victory; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman feature Joe Weiss of Elizabeth City NC finally scored his first VMS victory and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division James Givens of Henrico, VA drove from his ninth place starting position to muscle the lead away from Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA on lap 14 and go on to take the win. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature Matt Tarbox and mark Parks lead the field to green. Parks would power around the outside of Tarbox in turn 2 for the lead. Once out front Parks stretched his lead out to a full straight away. Behind him the battle for second was fierce between Tarbox, Camden Testerman and Matt Quade. Qaude would eventually take over the second spot but could not get close to Parks except on the races two cautions. During the races late laps fast qualifier Corey Almond would work his way to third but could not get any closer to the leader. Parks would cruise to the win followed by Qaude, Almond, Davis Lipscombe and Camden Testerman. In the Budweiser Modified 30 lap feature Ryan Toole and Chase Butler led the field to green with Toole taking the lead out of turn 2. Toole would fend off several challenges by Butler for the lead before battling with Hunter McClendon for the top spot. On lap 10 McClendon went to the outside of Toole in turn 1 to take the lead out of turn 2. Once out front sailed to the victory. Rounding out the top five were Toole Tim Schulte, rookie Chase Butler and rookie J.D. Eversole. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Bill Coada and Chad Beaher led the field to green, Coada would rocket out to lead the first lap. Coada would pace the first six laps with Tim Shelton banging on his back door. On lap 6 Shelton finally got by on the outside for the lead bringing fast qualifier Joe Weiss with him to second. Weiss would quickly go to work on Shelton for the top spot taking it away at the line on lap 8. Once out front Weiss kept control and went on to score his career first victory at the speedway. Steve Causey, Tyler Shipp, Tim Shelton and Chad Beahr rounded out the top five. As usual the Collision One Limited Stock Cars did not disappoint in their 25 lap feature. John Hankins Jr. and Mark Schools led the field to green with Hankins leading the first circuit. The top five were all in striking distance of the lead and on lap 4 Mark Schools grab the top spot away from Hankins. One lap later Chad Champion muscled his way under Schools out of turn 4 for the lead at the line. Over the next 8 laps Champion battled side by side with James Givens for the lead until Givens powered around the outside of Champion in turn 1 to take the lead. Once out front Givens was able to keep a fast charging Cory Bradley at bay to take the win. Rounding out the top five were Bradley, Champion, Trent Clemans and Randy Hutchens. The Speedway will return to racing next Saturday May 5th and host Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Night and week 3 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. The night will benefit the charity ChildHelp. Also, all Scouts in uniform will be admitted in FREE. Admission price for adults is only $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. Speedway to Host WRAR / WNNT Night at the Races this Saturday April 28th

Jamaica, VA – Drivers and fans alike are ready to get the 2018 Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season at Virginia Motor Speedway under way after being rained out on April 7th. After a very success Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth on April 14th, officials are excited to see what the weekly racing season has to offer. WRAR / WNNT Night at the races will feature all four Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship division in some exciting side by side racing. Saturday evening April 28th will feature a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 28th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Adult general admission is just $12; seniors (60+) $10; military (active and retired) $8; students (11-17) $6 and children 10 and under are free with a paying adult. DAVENPORT SCORES $20,000 KING OF THE COMMONWEALTH VICTORY; BAILES TAKES FASTRAK CHECKERS AND $3000 PAYDAY

JAMAICA, VA – The Ultimate Super Late Model Series made their return to Virginia Motor Speedway Saturday April 14th for the annual Aaron’s King of The Commonwealth where the event saw 56 competitors sign in all trying to capture a $20,000 payday. Holding off a final lap challenge from Scott Bloomquist; Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville; Georgia went flag to flag Saturday night at Virginia Motor Speedway to take home a $20,000 payday. “We went with a little different tire tonight, me Kevin and Jason went back and forth, back and forth. We’ve all been hear a lot and we know what you normally put on, but it just looked a little different tonight for some reason, and the choice really worked out good for us,” commented Davenport in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Davenport added, “Scott came on there at the end and he was so good the whole race and it’s definitely a pleasure racing up there with him and finally getting a win,” Scott Bloomquist, Chris Madden, Tim McCreadie, and Brandon Overton rounded out the top five finishers. In other action Ross Bailes would grab the lead on lap 19 from Justin Williams and go on to take the $3000 victory in the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance tour event. On the drop of the green flag up the Ultimate Super Late Model feature Jonathan Davenport rocketed from the outside to take the lead from polesitter Scott Bloomquist heading out of turn 2. Once out front Davenport started to put some distance between himself and the battle for second between Bloomquist and Chris Madden. On lap 39 Madden managed to get by Bloomquist and set out to catch Davenport as they raced through traffic. On lap 42 the driver on the move was Tim McCreadie working his way up from his fifteenth starting position to take 4th from Austin Hubbard. On lap 50 Madden closed in on Davenport as the two worked traffic. On lap 55 Bloomquist got back by Madden for second as the two raced out of turn 4. With two laps to go Bloomquist had pulled to within striking distance of Davenport. On the final lap Davenport had Bloomquist looking to his outside and as they entered turn 3 Bloomquist tried to sweep the outside only to have the car drift op the track just enough to give Davenport enough advantage to take the $20,000 victory. Scott Bloomquist, Chris Madden, Tim McCreadie, and Brandon Overton rounded out the top five finishers. Scott Bloomquist set fast time in qualifying with a time of 17.156 seconds to earn the Davis Diesel Service fast qualifier award. Heat race winners included Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden, Jason Colvert, Austin Hubbard, and Tyler Millwood. Consolation race winners included Tyler Erb and Tyler Bare. In the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance tour feature Brett Hamm and Justin Williams led the field to green with Hamm leading the first circuit. Two laps into the race the first caution flew for a multi-car wreck in turn 4 that took out several drivers in the top 10. On the restart Hamm would hold the lead with Williams on his tail. On lap 8 Williams would work his way around Hamm for the lead and looked to be the car to beat, but nobody told that to Ross Bailes who was working his way through the field. On lap 19 Bailes got by Williams for the lead and began to pull away from the field. On lap 33 Williams would go up in smoke with a blown motor and set up a seven-lap dash for the win. On the final restart of the race Bailes was able to fend off the challenges of Matt Long and Logan Roberson to grab the $3000 victory. Long, Roberson, Matthew Nance and Corey Almond rounded out the top five. The speedway will take the weekend of April 21 off due to the NASCAR events at Richmond Raceway and return to action Saturday April 28th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the Races and the opening weekend of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. Speedway to Postpone WRAR / WNNT Night till Saturday April 28; Focus Now on King of the Commonwealth

Jamaica, VA – Due to extreme cold temperatures and the forecast for rain and snow this Saturday, Virginia Motor Speedway officials have postponed WRAR / WNNT Night racing activities for Saturday April 7, 2018 till Saturday, April 28th. April 28th will now be the opening night of the 2018 Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion weekly racing season. The program will include extra practice for all four weekly divisions. “We hate that we have to lose the first week of the season, but with the cold temperatures and wet weather it is the best interest of our fans and competitors to cancel racing activities for this Saturday”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Jamaica, VA – The beginning of April at Virginia Motor Speedway is going to be action packed to say the least. To start it off the gates swing open to the track’s 2018 season of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing next Saturday April 7th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. Then the following week the focus will shift to the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, the first of five special events scheduled for the season. The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating over the last several weeks and fans and competitors alike are excited to get the speedway’s 49th season underway. The 49thAnnual season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 7th featuring a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 7th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. The following week, Saturday April 14th, the stars and cars of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series invade the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA for the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The event will host some of the top regional and national super late model drivers in a must-see event. 2018 DRIVER REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Jamaica, VA – Speedway officials have announced that 2018 driver registration is now open for all Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions. Competitors are encouraged to get their registration in before the opening weekend. Registration is once again $100 for the year OR $25 per race. Number choice for the top twenty (20) in 2017 points is secured until February 28, 2018, at that time all numbers will be first come, first served. Competitors can print off the 2018 forms and mail them in with a check or provide credit card info at the bottom of the registration form. There is a $3 convenience fee when using a credit card. There are three forms that MUST be filled out for registration. Please have them all filled out and returned. ATTENTION SPORTSMAN DIVISION COMPETITORS

Jamaica, VA – The 2018 Truckin Thunder Sportsman rules had an error in them when posted yesterday. Notes on the mock-up were inadvertently added to the rules. The rule in question is under Cylinder Heads 15.2.11. the rule should state NO MINIMUM CC instead of HEAD PART NUMBER WILL DETERMINE CC. The rule book has been corrected and is available for download. Our apologies for the mix-up. Speedway Releases 2018 General and Division Rules Packages

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway has released the 2018 rules packages for the Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. FASTRAK Pro Late Model rules for 2018 will be released after the FASTRAK Banquet. It is the responsibility of the driver / crews to read the new rules fully as all division and General Rules have changes for 2018.
