Virginia Motor Speedway to Host 1st Annual Virginia State Quarterback Challenge during Intermission of Fastrak World Championship

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing officials a excited to announce the formation of the 1st Annual Virginia State Quarterback Challenge. The event will feature some of the area’s high school quarterback’s competing to win their school a $1000 scholarship, bragging rights and a perpetual Trophy Cup that they will keep and display until next year’s event. “This is a chance for both the speedway and sanction to give back to the community and at the same time help excite a brand new segment of fans to our brand of racing,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. The challenge will be run similar to the punt, pass and kick competition and will test the quarterback’s arm strength and accuracy. The throw will be judged on overall distance and distance from the center line. The throw will first be measured for distance and then subtract the distance from the center line to get an overall distance and determine the winner. “This is a great interaction between high school football and racing, two sports that just about everyone loves; more importantly it offers a chance for us to give back to our communities” commented FASTRAK Marketing Director Don Lester. Students from the competing high schools can use their student I.D. to attend the event for $5 and cheer on their schools quarterback. High Schools scheduled to compete are Middlesex High School in Middlesex, VA, Essex High School in Tappahannock, VA, Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, VA, Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, VA and Northumberland High School in Heathsville, VA. All this takes place during intermission of the $15,000 to win Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment. Some of the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country will be on hand for the “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing. The Quarterback Challenge is scheduled for around 9PM. The warriors of the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series will start all over with a complete show, but this time the stakes are a lot higher as tonight’s winner will walk away with a cool $15,000 and the title of World Champion. Some of the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country are on hand for the “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing. In the eleven year history of the event there are 11 different winners adding another element to tonight’s event with three previous champions scheduled to compete. Corey Gordon Cashes in Big with $5000 Fastrak World Challenge Victory on Opening Night of Fastrak World Championship

Jamaica, VA – Corey Gordon’s day didn’t start out as he planned, breaking a drive shaft in practice. But his performance from that point on was absolutely flawless. Gordon won his heat and then went on to score the biggest win of his young career. Gordon of Charlotte, NC took command of the event on the opening lap of the 40 lap Fastrak World Challenge from his outside starting position and then survived several intense restarts with David smith of Inman, SC to take the $5000 World Challenge victory on the opening night of the Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment at Virginia Motor Speedway. “I wanted to just pack up and go home after breaking the drive shaft earlier in the day; I have to thank Teddy Tate for helping with another drive shaft. I can’t believe we are here in victory lane after the day we have had, I have to thank God first of all and my crew for working so hard to get us here,” commented Gordon in victory lane. David Smith and Corey Gordon led the 24 car field to green with Gordon rocketing to the lead with Smith flowing in second. On lap 8 the races first caution would fly for a spin by Jimmy Duncan in turn 4. Several cautions followed on restarts slowing the action. On the lap 10 restart action went three wide with Smith, Daniel Baggerly and Matt Long battling for the second spot. Several cautions closed the field on Gordon’s bumper but on each restart he was able to pull away from the battle for second. On lap 18 the battle for third heated up as Baggerly worked to keep Long at bay. The two raced side by side the next two laps before Long would get by out of turn 4. Once in third, Long set out to catch Smith who was trying to keep pace with Gordon who was setting a blistering pace. On lap 32 Long caught Smith in turn 3 and the two began a side by side back and forth battle for second. With Smith and Long battling for second Gordon was able to stretch out his lead and go on to the $5000 victory. The win was Gordon’s biggest win of his career. Heat race winners were David Smith, Corey Gordon, Aaron Barley and Ron Parker. B-Main winners were Kenny Compton Jr. and Mark Parks. The Speedway will be back in action tomorrow night for night 2 of the Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment. The competitors of the Fastrak Pro Late Models will be competing for the $15,000 top prize and to be crowned the World Champion. Friday night competitors will be competing in a 40 lap event that will pay the winner $5000. On Saturday night competitors will compete for the $15,000 top prize and be crowned World Champion. Other notable positions will see $3000 for 5th; $1400 for 10th and $500 to start the A Main. The speedway is offering a tremendous two-day ticket price of only $22. The special ticket will only be sold on Friday September 18th. The special price is to encourage fans to attend both nights of racing. Tyler Bare Makes Last Lap Pass for Aaron’s Pro Late Model Win; Quade, J. Williams, Brann, Hutchens Grab Wins; 2015 Champions Crowned

Jamaica, VA – Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA passed Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA heading to the white flag and then held off Lipscombe to take his fourth Aaron’s Pro Late Model win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion. Bare became the first third generation driver to win a championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. Booper Bare and Davis Lipscombe led the field to green with Lipscombe darting to the lead. On a lap 13 restart Tyler Bare got under his dad for second and then set out to reel in Lipscombe. On lap 22 Bare closed in on Lipscombe and finally worked inside him for the lead as the two came to the white flag. Bare would go on to score the win and put an exclamation point on his 2015 Championship season. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Daniel Baggerly, Booper Bare and Jimmy Duncan. In other action Justin Williams of Cord, VA got by David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD on lap 24 to grab the lead and go on to his fifth Victory Lap Late Model win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion, it was his third championship in a row; In the Budweiser Modified division Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD got the lead from James Sparks of Hollywood, MD on lap 16 and went on to score his sixth win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion, it was his second championship in a row; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Timmy Brann of Warsaw, VA held off Jeremiah Marshall at the line by .042 seconds to claim his second win of the season; Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA rebounded from an opening lap spin to be crowned the 2015 Truckin Sportsman Champion; and in the Collision One Limited Stock division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA held off Stephen Childress for his fourth victory and was crowned the 2015 Champion. The night for the Victory Lap Late Models started off with Tyler Emory of King George, VA setting a new track record with a lap of 17.654 seconds. That record stood for about five minutes before Justin Williams of Concord, VA set a new track record with a lap of 17.649 seconds. On the drop of the green David Williams bolted to the lead with Justin Williams following in second. The two pulled away from Emory who was trailing by five car lengths in third. Justin Williams would try both the inside and outside of David Williams on several occasions for the lead. On lap 15 Justin Williams looked like he was headed for the turn 3 wall backwards when he regained control of his car to stay in second. That allowed David Williams to pull away by about twelve car lengths. It took Justin Williams five laps to get back to the back bumper of David Williams. Justin Williams drove inside David Williams out of turn 4 several times only to come up inches short at the line. On lap 25 Justin Williams finally got by David Williams on lap 24 for the lead. The two would beat and bang for the next four laps with Justin Williams pulling away on the final circuit to get his fifth win of the season and cap off his third championship in a row. Rounding out the top five were David Williams, Tyler Emory, Billy Hubbard and Billy Tucker. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Matt Quade battled with James Sparks of Hollywood, MD for the first fourteen laps with Sparks holding Quade at bay. On lap fifteen Sparks car slowed in turn 4 due to mechanical failure and handing the lead over to Quade. On the restart Qaude would pull away from the field and go on to his sixth win of the season and his second championship in a row. Rounding out the top five were Brian Maxey, Brent Bordeaux, Tim Schulte and William Mongold. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Timmy Brann and point leader Chad Beahr led the field to green with Brann powering off of turn 2 to take the lead. Beahr would spin in turn 4 sending him to the rear of the field and putting a possible damper on his title run. Brann would pull away to a pretty sizeable lead. Jeremiah Marshall would reel in Brann in lapped traffic. On the last lap Marshall would dive under Brann out of turn 4 to pull door to door with Brann. The two would come across the finish line in a dead heat and Brann winning by .042 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Marshall, James Snead, Brett Adkins and Matt Ashworth. Chad Beahr would rebound to a ninth place finish and be crowned the 2015 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion. In the Collision One Limited Stock 29 lap feature Ryan Hutchens survived a rough and tumble outing to score his fourth win of the season. Hutchens took over the lead in a three wide battle on lap 12. Once out front Hutchens would hold off Stephen Childress for the win. Rounding out the top five were Chris Maxey, Brian Bradley and Dylan Loving. The speedway will take the week off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and return to racing Friday and Saturday September 18th and 19th to host the Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment. The two-day show will feature a $5000 to win 40 lap event on Friday September 18th and the $15,000 to win 60 lap Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment on Saturday September 19th. Jamaica, VA — The speedway will host Collision One / Aaron’s Championship Night tonight! Competitor gates for Saturday August 8th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Features start at 8pm. Admission: Adults – $12; Seniors (60+) – $10; Military (active/retired) $8; Students (11-17) – $6 and kids 10 and under free. Pit passes (regardless of age) are $20. Speedway to Host Collision One / Aaron’s Championship Night This Saturday September 5th

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to racing this Saturday September 5th to host Collision One / Aaron’s Championship Night and final week of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Champions in all five divisions will be determined by night’s end. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division third generation driver Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA continues atop the standings even after second place Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA picked up the win this past Saturday. Bare’s advantage over Parks is now 34 points. If Bare holds on to collect the championship he will become the third generation of his family to win a championship at the speedway. In the Budweiser Modified division defending champion Matt Quade Mechanicsville, MD continues to lead the points although he gave up one point this past Saturday in a race that featured him in a three way battle for the win with Joey Polevoy and eventual race winner Brian Maxey. Quade has a 25 point lead on Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA as they head into the final event. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA rebounded from a terrible finish on August 15th with a third place finish on Saturday. Beahr got back some of the points he had lost and now holds a 25 point advantage over Tommy Upshaw of West Point, VA. Former track champion Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA will try one more time to collect his 200th career victory before the season ends. And in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA continues atop the standings with a 30 point advantage over Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA. Mark Parks Holds Off Booper Bare for Aaron’s Pro Late Model Win; J. Williams, Maxey, Ashworth and Otey Also Grab Wins

Jamaica, VA – Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA held off a hard charging Booper Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA to take home the victory in the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on Northern Neck Chevrolet / Pepsi / WIGO Night. “Getting a win here is so tough and to hold off Booper Bare is even tougher; I have to thank my crew from giving me such a great car tonight,” commented Parks in victory lane. Parks grabbed the lead on the drop of the green flag with Lipscombe holding onto second. Bare got inside Lipscombe on lap 4 to take over second and then set out to reel in Parks. Parks used the low side while Bare worked the cushion as the two pulled away from the battle for third between Lipscombe and Tyler Bare. On lap 18 Bare changed his line and looked inside Parks in turn 1 but Parks was up to the task and held on to the top spot. Several restarts allowed Bare a chance to get by Parks only to have to settle for second. Parks would go on to collect his second win of the season. Following Parks to the finish were Booper Bare, Davis Lipscombe, Tyler Bare and Ricky Wells. In other action Justin Williams of Concord, VA came from sixth to take the win in the Victory Lap Late Model feature; in the Budweiser Modified division Brian Maxey of King George, VA held off Joey Polevoy and Matt Quade to score the win; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman feature Matt Ashworth of Mechanicsville, VA claimed the lead from James Snead of Fredericksburg, VA on lap 14 and went on to collect the win and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars Shawn Otey of Aylett, VA scored a hard fought victory on his 40th birthday. It took defending champion and current point leader Justin Williams of Concord, VA seventeen laps to take over the lead from his sixth place starting position; but once out front he set sail on way to his sixth win of the season. Williams set fast time and inverted the top six drivers for the start. By lap 8 he was in third battling David Williams for second. On lap 12 David Williams scrapped the backstretch wall out of turn 2 opening the door for Justin Williams to take over second. On lap 16 got under leader Billy Hubbard out of turn 2 to take over the lead and go on to take his sixth victory of the season. Rounding out the top 5 were Michael Batten, Stephen Childress, Brandon Long and Anthony Kincaid. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Brian Maxey of King George, VA withstood a tough battle with Joey Polevoy and Matt Quade to score his second win of the season. Maxey and Hunter McClendon led the field to green with Maxey taking the top spot out of turn 2. Maxey and Qaude battled back and forth for the lead over the first 13 laps and on lap 14 came up on slower traffic. The two touched in turn 4 with Maxey keeping his momentum and leaving Quade to deal with Polevoy. With Polevoy and Quade battling for second Maxey went on to score the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Polevoy, Quade, Brent Bordeaux and Josh Harris. Matt Ashworth of Mechanicsville, VA took the lead from James Snead of Fredericksburg, VA on lap 13 out of turn 4 after Snead bobbled heading into the corner. Ashworth then went on to score his second win of the season. Ashworth worked his way from his seventh place starting position getting to Snead’s rear bumper by lap 6. Ashworth tried several times to get by for the lead but the bobble on lap 13 was what he needed to grab the tp spot and go onto the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Snead, Chad Beahr, Roger Jamerson and Jeremiah Marshall. David Bowler and Shawn Otey led the Collision One Limited Stock field to green with Otey taking the top spot out of turn 2 followed by James Givens in second. The two traded paint for several laps swapping the lead back and forth. On lap 12 it looked as if Givens would take the lead out of turn 2 but caution flew sending Otey back to the top spot for the restart. On the restart the two made contact several times allowing Stephen Childress to join the battle for the lead. On the next lap Givens and Childress got together sending them to the rear for the restart. Otey would go on to score the win in his first race of 2015 on his 40th birthday. Rounding out the top 5 were Chad Champion, Ryan Hutchens, Michael Hayes and Marty Coltrain.
