Jamaica, VA – In just a matter of 12 short days the 2014 season gets underway for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway with the running of the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. That means some of the nations top dirt late model drivers will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) and will feature a 60 lap feature paying the winner a cool $20,000. This will be the first visit to the track by the second year national touring series. A Sunday April 13th rain date has been established if needed. Fans can expect to see the best in national and regional dirt late model drivers for this highly anticipated event. Defending National Dirt Racing Series Champion Billy Moyer, current point leader Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist, Steve Francis, Don O’Neal, John Blankenship, Jonathan Davenport, Chris Ferguson, Kent Robinson and the rest of the NDRL regulars will have their hands full as they compete against Booper Bare, Steve Shaver, Ricky Elliott, Jason Covert, Jamie Lathroum and a host of other regional hot shoes for the top prize. Question: How many cars do you have to have to run the Pro Late Models by themselves? Answer: Track management has said if we have 12 Pro Late Models on Saturday April 19th they will run by themselves. Question: What are registration costs? Answer: Virginia Motor Speedway registration for the year is $100 and paid to the speedway. To qualify for the World Championship you must also register with Fastrak Racing, the fee for that is $100 and is paid to them. Jamaica, VA – After unprecedented interest by competitors in the 2014 $20,000 to win Fastrak World Championship to be held at Virginia Motor Speedway on October 2-4, 2014 officials at both Virginia Motor Speedway and Fastrak Racing are proud to announce that a new contract has been signed that will keep the “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Models at Virginia Motor Speedway through the 2016 season. The three year deal also includes an option for an additional three years. “With the addition of the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division at our speedway and with the early interest in the World Championship in only makes sense to extend the contract and let everyone know that the “Super Bowl” for Pro Late Models has a home well into the future ,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2014 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs. During the 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action the speedway will feature six nights of the very popular twin race format that was utilized during the past two seasons. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 19th and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 13th. This year’s division line-up will once again include the Victory Lap Late Models, Aaron’s Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Opening up the 2014 season will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth and feature the first ever visit by the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL). The one day $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nationals top super late model drivers back to the Commonwealth of Virginia for what will be one of the best races of the year. Returning for 2014 will be the Ultimate Super Late Model Series on Saturday May 17th as they sanction the 35th Annual USA 100. For the first time in 2014 the speedway will host the Super Bowl of Pro Late Model racing, the $20,000 to win Fastrak World Championship on October 2-4th. Along with the weekly racing action and the special events the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility that will be celebrating its tenth year of racing. SPEEDWAY SET TO BEGIN PROJECT: SPORTSMAN TRUCK BODY

Jamaica, VA — Speedway officials are excited to start a new project meant to showcase a new rule that will be implemented for the 2014 season in the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Speedway officials have decided that with the popularity of the Camping World Truck Series return to dirt this past season that the track would allow truck bodies in the three mentioned divisions. All existing rules, excluding the body rules, will stay effect for each division. Final rules packages for the 2014 season are forthcoming. The new project will take a Sportsman chassis and outfit it with a Five Star Short Track truck body. We have chosen the GM 604 crate engine as the power plant for this project as it is allowed as a cost effective option in the Sportsman division.
