Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. That difficult decision made sure that our weekly tracks had tires. Even though many of our tour events have been canceled, it’s the responsibility of the series to ensure that our weekly tracks can race first, then the tour afterward. Hopefully, this move will ensure we have plenty of tires for the World Championship,” added Lester. 100% Chance of Rain Forces Cancellation of $20,000 to win USA 100

Jamaica, Virginia – With the impending weather forecast calling for a 100% chance of rain, management of Virginia Motor Speedway, Ultimate Super Late Model Series, and FASTRAK Racing have made the difficult decision to cancel the August 7th $20,000 to win Ernie Shelton’s USA 100. “The decision to cancel a race is the hardest thing we have to do as a promoter. But Mother Nature has forced a decision as we have too many drivers and fans coming from long distances. We don’t want to cause them any unnecessary costs for fuel and hotel rooms”, commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “with over an inch of rain forecast and thunderstorms, it is the right decision for us to make with the information we have at our disposal.” Forecast data from multiple weather companies conclude that 90-100% chance of rain and over an inch of rainfall. “Unfortunately, Mother Nature is once again forcing us to make a decision we didn’t want to have to make. With the current forecast, this is the best decision for the teams, fans, and officials, all of whom are traveling considerable distances to attend the USA 100. Speedway to host the 45th Annual USA 100 This Saturday, August 7th

Jamaica, VA – The stars and cars of the Ultimate Super Late Models Series will make their return to Virginia Motor Speedway for the $20,000 to win 45th annual Ernie Shelton’s USA 100 this coming Saturday, August 7th. After a phenomenal King of the Commonwealth in May, the excitement level for this event is at a fever pitch. The $20,000 to win event will see some of the region’s top dirt late model talent in action. Brandon Overton is the defending race winner. The USA 100 will also include a $3000 to win event for the FASTRAK Racing Series Pro Late Models making this a must-see event for late model fans. “The Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors never disappoint when it comes to putting on a show for the fans, and the 2019 race was extremely exciting with Brandon Overton inching out Rick Eckert for the win,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. “Sawyer added, “if you miss this event, you may miss what may well be considered the best race of 2021.” Joining the Ultimate Super Late Model Series once again will be a $3000 to win FASTRAK National Tour event for Pro (Crate) Late Models. Matt Quade and Justin Williams Take Pro Late Model Wins; Solinger and Brooks Become First-time Winners; Lipscombe, Butler, and Maxey Return to Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – It didn’t take long for Justin Williams of Concord, VA to get to the front from his sixth-place starting position, two corners to be exact. On the drop of the green flag, Williams split the field getting to the front in a three-wide move that saw Williams grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Chuck Bowie and Jeremy Pilkerton led the field to green and as they raced into turn one it went three wide as Williams shot up through the middle of the field. Once out front, Williams began to pull away from the field. By lap 15 it looked as if Pilkerton was gaining on the leader, but Williams just put it in high gear and pulled away again. Williams would go on to score a dominating win, after a frustrating first race, for his fourth win of the season. “I think the two guys up front were playing games with each other which allowed me to make the move for the lead, once out front I just tried to make sure the tires stayed under me,” commented Justin Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Matt Glanden Josh Canipe, Matthew Hillebrand, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified feature Lance Grady of Hanover, VA would grab the lead on the opening circuit but give up the lead to Jeff Solinger on lap 2. Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA would grab the lead on lap 10 from Solinger with an outside move out of turn 4. With the laps winding down Brandon Galloway, with the help of several cautions, closed up to the bumper of Butler pressuring him the lead. But Butler was up for the challenge scoring the win and becoming the first repeat winner in the Budweiser Modified division. Rounding out the top five were Galloway, In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led the first five laps before Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA would take it 3-wide inside Shelton and Tyler Shipp to take the lead. Once out front Lipscpmbe would pull away from everyone but his teammate Shipp. Shipp tried to keep pace only to see Lipscombe go on to his sixth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Matt Ashworth, Steve Causey, and Matt Meads. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature points leader Brian Maxy of King George, VA returned to his winning ways, grabbing the lead on the drop of the green flag and went on to score his fifth win of the season. Johnny Brooks, Cory Bradley, and Raymond Harper tried to keep pace to no avail as Maxey would cruise to the victory. Rounding out the top five were Johnny Brooks, James Givens, Cory Bradley, and Sean Otey. JULY 17 MAKE-UP FEATURES In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model July 17 make-up feature Matt Quade of Avenue, MD got under point leader Justin Williams on lap 16 to take the lead out of turn two and go on to score his first win of the season. Brad Rigdon would lead the first four laps until Williams would make a bold move on the outside to take the lead. Williams would lose the lead to Quade on a lap 16 restart when Quade would get under him out of turn 2. Quade would go on to score the win in front of Matt Glanden, Joey Love, Trevor Collins, and Curtis Hughes. In the Budweiser Modified July 17 make-up feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA cored his career-first victory, leading flag to flag on way to the win. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price. Davis Lipscombe REMAINS UNBEATEN IN Sportsman ACTION; Mother Nature Wins the Rest

Jamaica, VA – It took seven laps for Truckin thunder Sportsman point leader Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA to get to the front and once out front went on to score his fifth win of the season. Once the checkered flag flew Mother Nature stepped in with a huge storm that caused the rest of the night to be canceled. Davis Lipscombe once again had to start eighth due to the tracks two win rule, but that only slowed him for the first seven laps. On lap 4 Lipscombe and Joshua Burnham would trade paint sending Burnham for a spin and to the rear. Two laps later Lipscombe got by leader Matt Ashworth out of run 4. Once out front lipscombe would cruise to the victory. Rouding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Joshua Burnham, Steve Causey, and Matt Ashworth. Justin Williams Takes Third Pro Late Model Win of the Season; Maxey Scores Emotional Win, Lipscombe Remains Unbeaten and Hamilton Scores First Win of Season

Jamaica, VA – It didn’t take long for Justin Williams of Concord, VA to work his way to the front from his third-place starting position lead in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature. On the opening circuit, Williams would work his way inside outside polesitter Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD, out of turn 4 and lead the first lap by inches. Once out front Williams would pull away from the field in dominating fashion to score his third Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season and second in a row. “We had a perfect car tonight, I wanted to get to the front as quick as I could. With all these great cars here, you can’t sit back and wait,” commented Justin Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Billy Hubbard and Jeremy Pilkerton led the field to green. Pilkerton would slide inside Hubbard with Justin Williams in tow. In turn 3 Williams got inside Pilkerton as the two raced back to the line to see who would lead the first lap. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman feature Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, took the lead on lap 9 and went on to score his fourth win in a row from his eighth-place starting spot. And in the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature, Brian Maxey of King George, VA worked his way from his eighth-place starting position to score a very emotional win by honoring the passing of his nephew Chris Maxey. It was his fourth win in a row. Bret Hamilton and Jeff Solinger led the Budweiser Modified field to green, with Hamilton taking the lead out of turn 2. Hamilton would wage a race-long battle with fast qualifier and point leader Chase Butler to grab his first victory of the season. Butler would keep the pressure on Hamilton for the final 25 laps, trying multiple times to get inside Hamilton for the lead. Finally, Butler would go door to door with Hamilton with three laps to go, only to have to settle for second. Rounding out the top five were Jeff Solinger, David Kendall, and Stephen Bryant. Davis Lipscombe kept up his winning streak scoring his fourth Truckin Thunder Sportsman win in as many tries holding off teammate Tyler Shipp in the process. Tim Shelton and Matt Meads lead the field to green, with Shelton grabbing the lead. Meads would take over the top spot on lap 5, with Davis Lipscombe and Tyler Shipp following into second and third. Four laps later, Shipp would take over the top spot with a three-wide pass out of turn 4 under both Meads and Lipscombe. The following lap, Lipscombe would take the lead with a three-wide pass of Shipp and a lapped car out of turn 4. Lipscombe would go on to score his fourth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Mike Burnham, Matt Ashworth, and Steve Causey. Brain Maxey of King George, VA, was on a mission in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division, and nothing was going to stop him from honoring the passing of his nephew with a win. After setting fast time, Maxey was relegated to eighth place starting position due to the speedways two wins in a row rule. On the drop of the green, Maxey went to work getting to the front; it only took him three laps. On lap two, Maxey got under Trent Clemans in turn three and then Johnny Brooks in turn 4 to grab the lead. Once out front Maxey never let anyone get close enough to battle for the lead. He would go on to win his fourth race in a row. Rounding out the top five were James Givens, Jacob Buie, Justin Pullen, and Marty Coletrain. The speedway will return to racing next Saturday, July 17, and host week 8 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Speedway to Host Week 7 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing This Saturday, July 10th

Jamaica, VA – After having two rainouts in a row, Virginia Motor Speedway is eager to get back to racing; the speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 10th, and host week 7 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! The question remains going into week 7: Can Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA (Truckin Thunder Sportsman) and Brian Maxey of King George, VA (Collision One Limited Stocks) make it four wins in a row in their respective divisions? Both came from eighth place to grab wins in week four and will have to do so again to keep the streak alive. Whatever the outcome, you need to be here in person to see some of the country’s best racing. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 10th will open at 3 pm, and spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps, and features will start at 7:30 pm.
