Jamaica, VA – The list of drivers who plan on racing in the $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway continues to grow larger with each passing day. Four time Lucas Oil Champion Earl Pearson Jr., Dale McDowell, former World of Outlaws Champion Tim McCreadie, Shannon Babb and Jimmy Owens are just a hand full of national caliber drivers that will be headed to the very fast ½ mile in Jamiaca, VA. The list of drivers has already topped 53 drivers and looks to continue to grow right up till race time on April 16 and 17th. Check in regularly as the list will be updated each week.

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway is headed to the 25th Annual Motorsports 2010 presented by VP Street Blaze January 22-24, 2010. The popular show produced by Len Sammons Productions is headed back to the Philadelphia, PA area once again for the 25th anniversary show and will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will have a booth at the Dirt Trackin 2010 show at the York Expo Center in York, PA this weekend Jan. 15th, 16th and 17th. It will be a chance for fans to visit with York Haven, PA driver Jason Covert a two time winner at VMS. Covert will be signing autographs Saturday Jan. 16th from 4:30 to 7pm.
Covert stated, “This is a great time for the fans to come out and see us and get our minds off the cold weather and thinking about spring coming and racing season starting up”. Covert also commented on how he wanted the fans to know about the upcoming Commonwealth 100 at VMS is April. “We really want to encourage the fans of our region to come out and help support what appears to be the Biggest Race on the East Coast for 2010”, he said.

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2010 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 11 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action and will open with the World of Outlaws sanctioned $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 April 16 – 17, 2010 and end with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned $15,000 to win 31st Annual USA 100 and a $2500 to win modified event. Jamaica, VA – The first entries for the Commonwealth 100 World of Outlaws Late Models event at Virginia Motor Speedway have started to come in. Jason Covert of York Haven, Pennsylvania was the first received. The three time MACS champion said, “We wanted to get our entry in, we have been waiting for a big event at Virginia Motor Speedway for quite some time now. We can’t wait for April to get here. VMS is a top notch facility with superb management and this event is definitely a step in the right direction”.

Jamaica, VA – Advance tickets for the biggest event in Virginia Motor Speedway’s 41 year history are now on sale. On April 16-17, 2010 Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host the Commonwealth 100 for the very first time. The event will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
A $25,000 prize is earmarked for the winner of the two-day blockbuster, which will offer a cash purse totaling over $125,000. The Commonwealth 100 will pay $2,000 to start, and a 30-lap Non-Qualifiers’ Race will boast a $3,000 first-place award from a purse of nearly $16,000.
