DIRECTIONS

From Richmond: Take US Route 360 East to Tappahannock and turn right on US Route 17 South. Virginia Motor Speedway is located 25 miles South of Tappahannock on US Route 17 South.

From Hampton Roads: Follow Interstate 64 west to West Point Exit #220. Take 33 East until it merges to US Route 17 North. Follow US Route 17 North past Saluda. Virginia Motor Speedway is 10 miles North of Saluda on Route 17.

TRACK SPECIFICATIONS

Track:
1/2-mile clay surface with 14 degree banking in both corners and 4 degrees on the front and back stretch.

Divisions:
Late Model, Sportsman, Modifieds, 305 Sprint Cars, Limited Stock Car, MACS Super Late Model Series, Carolina Clash Late Models, World of Outlaws Late Models, World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, Monster Trucks.

Racing Season:
Virginia Motor Speedway runs normally on Saturday nights but has 1 Thursday and 6 Friday nights on the schedule. The racing season is from March through September. Closed on RIR NASCAR weekends.

Facilities:
VMS offers 17 television quality MUSCO light poles, 4 tier outside guardrail and 3-tier inside guardrail retaining structures. Infield is surface treated with tar and gravel mixture.

ATTRACTIONS:

Middlesex County Museum

The Middlese County Museum in Saluda, in the old clerk’s office adjacent to the courthouse, is open through August 31 from 10am-3pm, Monday through Friday. On display is a variety of memorabilia, including military items, Indian relics, toys, personal effects, maritime, agricultural and industrial tools. Operated by the Middlesex County Museum Board and staffed by volunteers, the exhibits are free to the public. The Middlesex County Museum dates to Depression days when it was inaugurated by the WPA, and is the oldest county museum in the state. It was closed during World War II, but was reopened at the time of the nation’s bicentennial in 1976.
