
Jamaica, VA – Stephan Evans of Tyner, NC captured Saturday night’s 35 lap Victory Lap Late Model feature at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, taking the lead from Tom Cohick of Gloucester, VA on lap 22 in his #92 Quality Logging Cams Racing Engines powered Chevrolet Mastersbilt. The win was Evans career first late model victory.
Current point leader Walker Arthur of Forest, VA led the first six laps before blowing a motor ending his night. Austin Hubbard of Laurel, DE took over the lead and led the next seven laps before his motor expired in turn 4 handing the lead to Cohick.
Cohick would hold the lead until lap 21 when Evans dove inside the veteran out of turn 2 to take the lead and the victory.
Stevie Long, who brought out the races third caution on lap 8, drove back to the front to take home a third place finish.
Trailing Evans to the checkers were Tom Cohick, Stevie Long, Chris Stacy and Ben Bowie. Bowie picked up the Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Rookie of the Race Award with his fifth place finish.
In other action Paige Harrison of Jetersville, VA held off a last lap challenge to take home the victory in the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature. In the New Generation Racing Sprint Car 25 lap feature Craig Folmar of Phillipsburg, PA held off Daren Bolac of Moyock, NC to get his third win of the season and in the Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature Bob Terry of Stafford, VA survived a caution filled race to pick up his first win of 2008.

Jamaica, VA – When the night started one driver had a chance to continue his quest towards a $25,000 payday at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in the Victory Lap Late Model $25,000 Challenge presented by BB&T. When the checkered flag flew that quest fell one spot short as Tom Cohick of Gloucester, VA led flag to flag in taking round two of the Challenge series over Walker Arthur of Forest, VA.

Jamaica, VA – When Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns back to action tonight July 19th to host Truckin Thunder / Revere Gas Night at the Races the stakes get a little higher. The night’s events will include the rescheduled Round 2 of the Victory Lap Late Model $25,000 Challenge presented by BB&T.
Also scheduled during the night’s event are the Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and New Generation Racing Sprint Car divisions.
STARTING TIMES:
Competitor gates for Saturday, July 19th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Features will start at 8pm.
ADMISSION PRICES:
Adult admission is just $12, Senior and Military $10, Students 13 –17 yrs old $7, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $4 and Children 6 and under free. The Speedway offers a Family Pack for two adults and two children 12 and under for only $24. Also check our website for discount coupons.
