Logan Roberson Scores Pro Late Model Victory; Hubbard, Butler, Shelton, and Maxey Crowned 2022 Champions

Jamaica, VA – Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, VA, made his trip to Virginia Motor Speedway for some FASTRAK World Championship practice count, and in a big way. Roberson rocketed past Austin Hubbard of Bridgeville, DE, for the lead on lap 21 and then pulled away from the field to go on to grab the win in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30-lap feature. “It’s always great to get a win here; we feel really good about our chances in the upcoming $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship in September,” commented Roberson in Virginia Is For Racing Lovers victory lane. With his runner-up finish, Hubbard was crowned the 2022 Victory Lap Pro Late Model, his second at Virginia Motor Speedway. Austin Hubbard jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag and looked to have the race with Trevor Collins close in second. By lap 10 Logan Roberson had moved into second and was closing on the leader. It looked like Hubbard would have enough to hold off Roberson that was until lap 21 when Roberson rocketed past for the lead out of turn 2. Once out front, Roberson pulled away from the field and went on to score the win by 4.995 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were Hubbard, Ray Love Jr., Trevor Collins, and Nick Davis. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA, led flag to flag to score his second win of the season. Polevoy jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag with Lance Grady in tow. On lap 3 point leader Chase Butler had a bit of a scare spinning to bring out the first caution of the race. On lap 12, Bret Hamilton would take second from Grady and set out to catch the leader. Polevoy would hold off Hamilton for the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Chase Butler, Lance Grady, and Brent Bordeaux. Rebounding from his lap four spin, Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, was crowned the 2022 Budweiser Modified Champion for the second year in a row. Butler was the only driver in the modified division to finish in the top 5 in each race. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, returned to the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division with one goal to pick up the win. The division’s 2021 champion did just that, getting by Matt Meads of Elizabeth City, NC, on lap 10. With seven laps to go, Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA, had made his way back to the runner-up spot. With five laps to go, Shelton would try to get inside Lipscombe in turn 1, only to have Lipscombe use the high-side to his advantage to hold on to the top spot. Lipscombe would go on to take the win and keep Shelton from matching his perfect record set in 2021. Rounding out the top five were Shelton, Matt Meads, Adam Breeden, and James Givens. Shelton would be crowned the 2022 Truckin Thunder Champion finishing no worse than second during the 2022 season. It took Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, eight laps to work his way to the lead in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20-lap feature from his sixth place starting position. Once out front, Brooks would go on to score his third win of the season. Brooks would get by Ryan Hutchens on lap 8 with an inside move out of turn 2. Brian Maxey would close in on the leader with laps winding down but would be involved in a caution ending his night. Brooks would go on to score the win over Ryan Hutchens, Cory Bradley, Jacob Buie, and Brandon Bowler. Brian Maxey of King George, VA, would be crowned the 2022 Collision One Limited Stock Car Champion. The next event for the speedway will be the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA, set for September 23-24, 2022. The highest-paying Pro Late Model event will attract some of the top drivers in the country to the ½-mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The format for the event will include practice, qualifying, and heats on Friday, September 23, and B Mains and feature on Saturday, September 24. Any driver not making the feature will be entered into a drawing for a brand new GM 604 motor valued at $7500. More details about the big weekend will be released in the coming week. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing Saturday, July 23rd, and host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. On Saturday, July 23rd, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7 PM. MOTHER NATURE WINS AGAIN; SPEEDWAY CANCELS RACING FOR SATURDAY, JULY 9

Jamaica, VA – With the high chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, July 9, speedway management has decided to cancel racing activities for Saturday, July 9. “We hate having to cancel any event, but with the weather services calling for 80 – 99% chance of rain, we feel it best to go ahead and cancel racing for Saturday, July 9,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. “With the continued high gas prices, we just can’t put our fans and competitors in a position to spend money unnecessarily.” The Speedway will return to racing Saturday, July 23, to host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. That difficult decision made sure that our weekly tracks had tires. Even though many of our tour events have been canceled, it’s the responsibility of the series to ensure that our weekly tracks can race first, then the tour afterward. Hopefully, this move will ensure we have plenty of tires for the World Championship,” added Lester. Matt Quade and Justin Williams Take Pro Late Model Wins; Solinger and Brooks Become First-time Winners; Lipscombe, Butler, and Maxey Return to Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – It didn’t take long for Justin Williams of Concord, VA to get to the front from his sixth-place starting position, two corners to be exact. On the drop of the green flag, Williams split the field getting to the front in a three-wide move that saw Williams grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Chuck Bowie and Jeremy Pilkerton led the field to green and as they raced into turn one it went three wide as Williams shot up through the middle of the field. Once out front, Williams began to pull away from the field. By lap 15 it looked as if Pilkerton was gaining on the leader, but Williams just put it in high gear and pulled away again. Williams would go on to score a dominating win, after a frustrating first race, for his fourth win of the season. “I think the two guys up front were playing games with each other which allowed me to make the move for the lead, once out front I just tried to make sure the tires stayed under me,” commented Justin Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Matt Glanden Josh Canipe, Matthew Hillebrand, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified feature Lance Grady of Hanover, VA would grab the lead on the opening circuit but give up the lead to Jeff Solinger on lap 2. Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA would grab the lead on lap 10 from Solinger with an outside move out of turn 4. With the laps winding down Brandon Galloway, with the help of several cautions, closed up to the bumper of Butler pressuring him the lead. But Butler was up for the challenge scoring the win and becoming the first repeat winner in the Budweiser Modified division. Rounding out the top five were Galloway, In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led the first five laps before Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA would take it 3-wide inside Shelton and Tyler Shipp to take the lead. Once out front Lipscpmbe would pull away from everyone but his teammate Shipp. Shipp tried to keep pace only to see Lipscombe go on to his sixth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Matt Ashworth, Steve Causey, and Matt Meads. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature points leader Brian Maxy of King George, VA returned to his winning ways, grabbing the lead on the drop of the green flag and went on to score his fifth win of the season. Johnny Brooks, Cory Bradley, and Raymond Harper tried to keep pace to no avail as Maxey would cruise to the victory. Rounding out the top five were Johnny Brooks, James Givens, Cory Bradley, and Sean Otey. JULY 17 MAKE-UP FEATURES In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model July 17 make-up feature Matt Quade of Avenue, MD got under point leader Justin Williams on lap 16 to take the lead out of turn two and go on to score his first win of the season. Brad Rigdon would lead the first four laps until Williams would make a bold move on the outside to take the lead. Williams would lose the lead to Quade on a lap 16 restart when Quade would get under him out of turn 2. Quade would go on to score the win in front of Matt Glanden, Joey Love, Trevor Collins, and Curtis Hughes. In the Budweiser Modified July 17 make-up feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA cored his career-first victory, leading flag to flag on way to the win. Rounding out the top five were Chase butler, Lane Grady, Brandon Galloway, and Brent Bordeaux. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car make-up feature someone finally ended up in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane as Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA scored his career-first victory in a caution-filled affair. Brooks took the lead from James Givens on lap 13 and then held off Raymond Harper and Brian Maxey for the win. Rounding out the top five were Cory Bradley and Brandon Bowler. The speedway will return to racing Saturday, August 7th, and host the Ultimate Super Late Model Series sanctioned, $20,000 to win, 45th Annual Ernie Shelton’s USA 100. SPEEDWAY TO HOST HUGE NIGHT OF WEEKLY RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 31

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price. The three divisions that will make up their features are the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Budweiser Modifieds, and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. You do not want to miss a minute of the action. Spectator gates open at 5 pm, with hot laps beginning at 6 pm and features starting at 7:30 pm. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 31st will open at 3 pm, and spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps, and features will start at 7:30 pm. Saturday, July 17th make up features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Saturday, July 31st features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps).
