Tyler Bare Claims Thrilling Win in Pro Late Model Action; Polevoy, Jamerson and Givens also Visit Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – Defending Champion Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA scored his first Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season holding off current point leader Justin Williams in a thrilling feature that had the big crowd on their feet during Northern Neck Chevrolet / Collision One Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Bare took over the lead on lap 6 from Corey Almond after a two lap side-by-side battle then held off several challenges from Williams to score the victory. “We have been working very hard to get our first win here this year, I knew if I ran the top it would be hard for Justin (Williams) to pass me. I have to thank my dad for all his support and help,” commented Bare in victory lane. Corey Almond jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag with the field going three wide behind him. On lap 3 Bare took over second with a pass on Mark Parks. On lap 5, Bare dove under Almond in turn 3 to challenge for the lead. The two raced side-by-side for the next two laps before Bare finally grab the lead on 7 with Williams in tow. By lap 15 the two drivers began working lapped traffic with Williams trying both high and low to get around Bare. Each time Bare was up for the challenge. On a lap 26 restart Williams pushed Bare down into turn 1 but Bare held on to the lead. A big crash on lap 28 that brought out a red flag set up a two lap showdown for the win. On the final restart Bare got a great jump on the field as Williams jumped the cushion in turn 2 allowing Bare to pull away for his first win. Rounding out the top five were Williams, Mark Parks, Stephen Childress and Davis Lipscombe. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA scored his fourth Budweiser Modified win of the season. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA led flag to flag for his third win of the season and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature James Givens of Henrico, VA held off Ryan Hutchens to score his first victory of the season. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature point leader Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA worked his way from his eighth place starting position and swung around the outside Francis Jarrelle III on lap 7 to take over the lead and go on to score his fourth win of the season and fourth in a row. Jarrelle III led the first seven laps with Polevoy and Brett Hamilton getting by on lap seven in turn 1. Once out front Polevoy pulled away by 5 car lengths over Hamilton. It was a distance he would keep to the checkers. Rounding out the top five were Hamilton, Jarrelle, Jeff Solinger and Tim Schulte. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA led the field to green taking the lead on the drop of the green flag. After surviving a lap six challenge for the lead from Tim Shelton, Jamerson went on to score his third win of the season. On lap six Shelton dove under Jamerson heading into turn 1 only to get blocked by a lapped car bottling the field and sending Shelton for a spin. Shelton tried to get back to the front but a four lap battle with Joe Weiss that saw the two trade slide jobs on each of the four laps. That allowed Jamerson to pull away with Michael Hayes following in second. Rounding out the top five were Hayes, Shelton, Weiss and Tommy Upshaw. Chad Champion and Raymond Harper led the Collision One Limited Stock Car division to green with Champion grabbing the lead. Caution quickly came out on the following lap for a wreck on the backstretch. On the restart James Givens dove under Champion for the lead. On lap 12 Champion and Ryan Hutchens began swapping slide jobs for the lead. Hutchens was scored the leader on lap 13 with Givens muscling the lead back from Hutchens on the next circuit. Givens would then pull away to score his first win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Hutchens, Champion, Cory Bradley and Marty Coltrain. The speedway will return to racing on Saturday September 3rd for Aaron’s / Pepsi Championship Night. The night will feature the final week of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Justin Williams on Hot Streak with Third Pro Late Model Win of Season; Polevoy, Jamerson and Hutchens also Score Victories

Jamaica, VA – The action on the track was as hot as the temperatures outside on XTRA 99.1 | Metrocast Business Services Night at Virginia Motor Speedway. Justin Williams of Concord, VA used a daring pass on the outside of Corey Almond on lap 9 to take the lead and go on to score his third Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season and second in a row. Almond and Tyler Bare waged a side by side battle for the top spot for the first six laps of the race with Almond being score the leader by inches each time across the line. On lap 7 Bare bobbled just enough in turn 2 to let Williams drive around his outside for second. Once in second Williams went to work of Almond for the lead and on lap nine heading into turn 1 Williams rocketed around the outside of Almond to take the lead out of turn 2. Once out front Williams worked lapped traffic to perfection and survived several restarts to pick up his third win of the season. “The car was super-fast tonight and I could take it anywhere I needed it to go; I have to thank my crew for giving me success and amazing ride,” commented Williams in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Corey Almond, Davis Lipscombe, Cody Dawson and David Williams. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA took over the lead after a very tough door banging battle with Brian Maxey of King George, VA, once out front Polevoy would go on to score his third Budweiser Modified win of the season. Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA took the lead on lap 10 and then held off Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA for the Truckin Thunder Sportsman victory; and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature defending Champion and current point leader Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA took the lead on lap 10 to score his fourth win of the season. In the Budweiser Modified 25 feature Brian Maxey of King George, VA made it three wide on the start from his fifth place starting position to take the lead in the opening corner. It looked as if he would run away from the field but a caution on lap 11 allowed Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA to close the gap for the restart. Once back under racing the two went at each other for the top spot. On lap 20 Maxey made a small mistake in turn two allowing Polevoy to get to his outside. In turn 3 Polevoy dove under Maxey and put a slide job on him in turn 4 for the lead. The two beat and banged to the line with Maxey spinning and bringing out the caution. On the restart Polevoy pulled away and went on to score his third win of the season and third in a row. Rounding out the top five were Brian Dobie, Jeff Solinger, Francis Jarrelle III and Tim Schulte. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Matt Ashworth and Chad Beahr led the field to green with Ashworth grabbing the top spot with Roger Jamerson in close pursuit. On lap 9 Jamerson finally got under Ashworth to take over the top spot with Brett Adkins flowing to second. Adkins made several attempts to get by Jamerson for the lead but each time the leader was up to the task. Jamerson would hold off Adkins by .317 seconds to score the win. Rounding out the top five were Steve Causey, Michael Hayes and tommy Upshaw. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Brian Bradley took the top spot on the drop of the green flag to take the lead with son Corey Bradley, Chris Champion and defending Champion Ryan Hutchens in tow. With Bradley laeding the battle was for second with Hutchens finally securing the spot on lap 8. On the next circuit Hutchens used the outside to get around Bradley and take over the lead. Once out front Hutchens kept a two car length cushion for the remainder of the race to go on a score his fourth win of the season. MetroCast Night Canceled Due to Rain; Fifth Rain Out of Season

Jamaica, VA – After a third round of showers officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway were forced to cancel racing activities for MetroCast Business Services Night on Saturday July 16, 2016. It is the fifth rain out of the 2016 season. The Speedway will take the weekend of July 23rd off and return to racing on Saturday July 30, 2016 for week 10 of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship action. See all four of the track’s weekly divisions featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Justin Williams Scores Second Pro Late Model win of Season; Maxey, Adkins and Hutchens also Claim Victories

Jamaica, VA – Justin Williams of Concord, VA is looking like the Justin Williams of old grabbing the lead on lap 9 of the 30 lap Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature and then cruising to his second win of the season. Williams rocketed around the outside of Davis Lipscombe out of turn 4 when Lipscombe opened the door with a bobble. Once out front Williams set sail to grab the win. “I don’t think I have ever had a car handle as good as this car did tonight, I could take it anywhere on the track,” commented Williams in Victory lane. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA claimed his second Budweiser Modified win of the season taking the lead on lap 5 and never looking back. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA grabbed the lead on the opening lap and led flag to flag to score his second win of the season and in the Collision One Limited Stocks Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA rocketed around chad champion on lap 4 to take the lead and hold on for his second win of he season. It took several tries to get the Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature underway but once it did the action up front got three wide. Lipscombe paced the early laps while Stephen Childress, Williams and Tyler bare battled for second. Williams would take over second on lap 4 and then set out to reel in Lipscombe. A bobble on lap 8 out of turn 4 was all the opening Williams needed as he rocketed to the outside to take a lead he would never relinquish. The only close call for Williams came on lap 18 when Williams almost collided with a slower car on the front stretch. Once out front Williams set sail and went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Bare, Childress and Cody Dawson. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA grab the lead on the drop of the green and never looked back going flag to flag for his second win of the season. Roger Jamerson, Chad Beahr, Joe Weiss and Tommy Upshaw battled for second on back with Jamerson taking second for good on lap 15. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Weiss, Beahr and rookie Chase Butler. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA inherited the lead on lap five after leader James Sparks and Matt Quade got together in turn 1 battling for the lead. Once out front Polevoy fended off several attempts by Brian Maxey for the lead and went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Maxey, Qaude, Tim Schulte and Sparks. The Collision One Limited Stock feature is always one of the best races of the night and tonight was no different as Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA grabbed the lead on the start of the 20 lap affair. Champion would have plenty of company as the top six drivers raced nose to tail. On a lap 4 restart Champion slowed just enough to allow Hutchens to jump to his outside for the lead. Hutchens dodged a close call on lap 16 when a lapped car spun in front of him as he exited turn 2 and went on to score the victory. Speedway Back in Action this Saturday July 9th

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday July 9th Virginia Motor Speedway will host Dirt Track Saturday Night and week 8 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship will feature all four of the track’s divisions in action. Roger Jamerson Holds off Weiss and Adkins for 200th win; Stephen Childress becomes Third winner in Three Races in Pro Late Models; Polevoy and Coltrain Score first Wins of Season

Jamaica, VA – Two story lines were set to play out on Military Appreciation Night at Virginia Motor Speedway but only one happened to play out. One story had Budweiser Modified feature Stephen Quade, set to join the United State Air Force on July 5th, led all but 2 laps of the 25 lap feature to finish second in what was almost a story book ending but that went to Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA in the Truckin Thunder feature. Jamerson has been chasing the elusive win #200 since the end of 2015. On this night Jamerson’s story book ending came true. Jamerson would grab the lead at the drop of the green flag with Brett Adkins right on his bumper. For the first 10 laps Jamerson and Adkins waged a side-by-side battle for the lead with Jamerson holding on each lap. Behind him Joe Weiss began Adkins began a battle for second with Weiss taking over the spot on lap 11. Over the final 14 laps you could put a blanket over the top three with Jamerson hold off Weiss and Adkins to take his first win of season and his 200th of his career. “This thing started in 1984 for me; I have been racing for a long time but to get the 200th win in a race that competitive makes it even sweeter,” Rounding out the top five were Joe Weiss, Brett Adkins, Chad Beahr and John Nickens. In other action Stephen Childress of St. Stephens Church, VA scored the flag to flag win in a very competitive Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature; Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA grab the lead from Stephen Quade of Mechanicsville, MD and went on to score the victory in Budweiser Modified action; and in the Collision One Limited Stocks Marty Coltrain of S. Chesterfield, VA scored a flag to flag victory, his first win in over three years. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30 lap feature Davis Lipscombe and Stephen Childress led the field to green with Lipscombe jumping out to the lead with Childress right on his bumper and the race for third going three wide. On lap 2 restart after a caution Childress jumped to the outside of Lipscombe in turn 3 and grabbed the lead at the line. Once out front Childress pulled away from the battle for second that included Lipscombe, Tyler Bare and Justin Williams. Williams working his way from his sixth starting position first battled with Bare for the third finally taking the spot on lap 20 and then went by Lipscombe on the next lap with a daring pass on the high side out of turn 2. Williams tried to reel in Childress for the lead but Childress ran a flawless final 9 laps to score his first career win in the division. Rounding out the top 5 were Williams, Bare, Lipscombe and Corey Almond. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Hunter McClendon and Stephen Quade led the field to green with Quade sweeping the outside of turn 2 to lead the first circuit. A couple of cautions slowed the action before heating up between Quade and Brian Maxey. Maxey tried several times to dive under Quade for the lead with Joey Polevoy waiting in the wings. On lap 12 Polevoy drove around the outside of Maxey in turn 3 and 4 to take over the second spot. Polevoy would reel in Quade and the two battled what seemed side by side until lap 22 when Polevoy grab the lead out of turn 4 and go on to take the win. Rounding out the top five were Quade, Maxey, Francis Jarrelle and Hunter McClendon. It was announced in victory lane that Stephen Quade will be joining the United States Air Force on July 5th. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature 8-time Champion Roger Jamerson, looking for win 200, grabbed the lead on the drop of the green to lead the first lap. Following along into second was 2-time Champion Brett Adkins as the top two pulled away from the field. On lap 12 the race got interesting as Joe Weiss dove under Adkins to battle for second. After a couple of laps of side-by-side racing Weiss took over the second spot. Weiss would take several shots at Jamerson for the lead only to be turned away. Jamerson would hold on to grab his first victory of the season and his 200th of his career. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap nightcap Marty Colrtrain and James Givens led the field to green with Givens slowing with mechanical issues and Coltrain grabbing the top spot and leading the opening circuit. Several cautions closed the field on Coltrain’s bumper but that was about as close as anyone could get to him during the race. Coltrain would lead flag to flag and pick up his first victory in three years. Rounding out the top five were Chris Champion, Cory Bradley, Brian Bradley and James Bunn. Speedway to Host Military Appreciation Night this Saturday June 25

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday June 25th Virginia Motor Speedway will host Military Appreciation Night with all military personnel (active or retired w/ I.D.) being admitted free (grandstand admission only). Week 7 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship will feature all four of the track’s divisions in action. In week six action Justin Williams of Concord, VA grabbed his first Victory Lap Pro Late Model victory in dominating style. Can he back that performance up this week with another one just like it? In the Budweiser Modified division Brian Maxey of King George, VA claimed his second win in a row and will not be able to start any closer than eighth this week due to the “Two Wins in Row” rule; that same rule will be in affect for defending Collision One Limited Stock Champion Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA as he also claimed his second win in a row last time out. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA scored an impressive victory in the division he dominated for a couple of years before moving up to the Pro Late Model division.
