Twin Features Produce Eight Different Winners

Jamaica, VA – A hot but beautiful night led to some exciting racing at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on Pepsi Night. Twin features for all the tracks divisions added to the excitement. Polevoy had to fend off several challenges before getting hise career first victory in the division. Mike Reynolds, Dan Arnold and Matt Quade rounded out the top five. The second Budweiser Modified feature may have been the best race of the night as Jimmy Duncan, matt Quade, Dan Arnold and Mike Reynolds all took shots at the win with three wide racing the norm. Duncan led the first 11 laps before Quade got by for the lead. Quade would lead the next three laps to pick up the win, his second of the season. Jimmy Duncan Doubles up in Modified action; Williams, Padula, Adkins and Givens also get wins

Jimmy Duncan Doubles up in Modified action; Williams, Padula, Adkins and Givens also get wins

Jamaica, VA – Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA emerged the big winner at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway as he swept both events for the Budweiser Modifieds on Collision Once, Xtra 99.1 Night. Other winners included Justin Williams in Victory Lap Late Models, David Padula in Fastrak Pro Late Models, Brett Adkins in Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Wesley Givens in Collision One Limited Stocks. Twin races for were scheduled for each division but after the second feature for the Budweiser Modifieds rain began to fall ending the nights activities. The first Budweiser Modified feature started with a tribute to the late Donnie Smith whose 1$ modified paced the four wide salute to the fans. On the drop of the green flag Mike Reynolds jumped out to an early lead followed closely by Jimmy Duncan, Joey Polevoy and Russell Erwin. For the first 10 laps Reynolds was able to keep Duncan and Erwin at bay but on lap 11 Reynolds slipped just a bit in turn 2 allowing Duncan to get by the for the lead and Erwin to go by for second. Duncan then went on to take the win over Erwin with Reynolds, Polevoy and Chris Arnold rounding out the top five. In the second feature it got three wide real quick as Jimmy Duncan, Joey Polevoy and Russell Erwin all raced out of turn 2 looking for the lead. Duncan would lead the first lap but his stay would be short lived as Erwin took over the top spot on the next lap. Two laps later Erwin would slow in turn 4 and take it to the pits handing the lead back to Duncan. Polevoy tried several times to take away the top spot but Duncan was too strong and went on to win his second feature of the night followed by Polevoy, Chris Arnold, James Sparks and Neal Hudgins. In the Victory Lap Late Model / Fastrak Pro Late Model feature Justin Williams would start on the pole and lead every lap in a dominating performance to pick up the win in the victory Lap Late Models. Tim Shelton and John Staton would put on a show for second as the two swapped the position back and forth multiple times before Shelton took the position for good followed by Staton, Billy Tucker and Troy Williams rounding out the top five. The highest finishing Fastrak Pro Late Model was David Padula. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman it was the same old story as Brett Adkins picked up this seventh win of the season with Roger Jamerson, Davey Pullen, Junior Carter and Hunter Shelton rounding out the top five. The Collision One Limited Stock Car feature was probably the most entertaining as five drivers had a shot at the win. Wesley Givens, Marty Coltrain, Ryan Hutchens, Brian Maxey and Brandon Sandridge battle three wide for much of the 12 lap affair with Givens coming out the victor. The win was his sixth of the season. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Hutchens, Brian Maxey, Brandon Sandridge and Travis Hopkins. The speedway will return to racing next Friday August 23rd to host the $10,000 to win 34th Annual USA 100 featuring the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. Do not miss your chances to see best super late models drivers on the East Coast in what will be a North versus South slugfest. Also see a special $1500 to win modified event. Justin Williams and Walker Arthur Score Late Model Wins; Baggerly, Adkins, Shelton, Hamilton, Qaude, Maxey and Givens also get wins

Jamaica, VA – After three consecutive rainouts Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway finally had a beautiful night to race as it hosted Virginia Army National Guard “Salute to the Fallen” Tribute Night to a very large and enthusiastic crowd. All divisions competed in twin events. The night started with a very moving tribute to the 10 Virginia Army National Guard soldiers that have died in combat. Feature event winners for the night included Justin Williams and Walker Arthur in Victory Lap Late Models; Daniel Baggerly swept both events in Fastrak Pro Late Models; Brett Adkins and Hunter Shelton in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Bret Hamilton and Matt Quade in Budweiser Modifieds and Brian Maxey and Wesley Givens in Collision One Limited Stocks. In the first feature for the Victory Lap Late Models / Fastrak Pro Late Models Justin Williams grabbed the lead right off the green flag. The racing behind Williams was intense for second on back but no one had anything for Williams as he cruised to his second victory of the season. Billy Tucker, Walker Arthur, Troy Williams and John Staton rounded out the top five. The second Victory Lap Late Model feature was a bit different. Scott Adams and John Staton led the field to green with Adams taking control out of turn 2. It looked as if Admas was set on cruise control but Walker Arthur had a differ idea. Arthur worked his way to second by lap 6 and caught Adams as the two raced into turn 1. Arthur dove under Adams and completed a text book slide job to take over the top spot. Once out front Arthur cruised to the win while the rest of the field battled for position. Troy Williams, Justin Williams, Darryl Hills and Scott Adams rounded out the top five. The first Budweiser Modified feature was a barn burner. Bret Hamilton and Brian Dobie led the 19 car field to green with Hamilton leading the first circuit. By lap 3 matt Quade was to the inside of Hamilton for the lead. The tow raced that way for much of the first 10 laps of the 15 lap affair. Each time Quade tried to take the lead Hamilton had an answer. Qaude tried one last time in turn 2 on the final lap but Hamilton had enough to take the win. Matt Quade, Jimmy Duncan, Josh Harris, Michael Reynolds rounded out the top five. In the second Budweiser Modified feature Josh Harris led the first eleven laps with a five car battle for second behind him. On lap 11 Matt Quade went outside of Harris out of turn 4 to take the lead by inches. Once out front Qaude went on to the win with Harris, Francis Jarrelle, Bret Hamilton and Michael Reynolds rounding out the top five. Brett Adkins dominated the first feature of the night for the Truckin Thunder Sportsman. Troy Doggett led the first 2 laps before giving up the lead to Junior Carter. Carter led till Adkins swept to his outside on lap 4 to take the lead. Once out front Adkins cruised to the win. Junior Carter, Davey Pullen, Hunter Shelton and Troy Doggett rounded out the top five. In the second feature for the Truckin Thunder Sportsman the forst lap quickly went three wide with Macy Causey, Junior Carter and Hunter Shelton. Once the dust settled Shelton emerged with the lead and once out front never looked back as he went on to score the win. Brett Adkins, Davey Pullen, Troy Doggett and Macy Causey rounded out the top five. Brian Maxey emerged the winner in the caution filled first feature for the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Ryan Hutchens, Brian Bradley, Shawn Otey and Travis Hopkins rounded out the top five. In the second feature for the Collision One Limited Stock Cars is was not good to be the leader but it also provide the best finish of the night. Shawn Otey grabbed the lead on the drop of the green but would surrender the top spot on lap 8 when he spun in turn 2. That handed the lead to David Bowler who paced the field for a lap before hitting the turn 2 wall ending his night. That gave the lead to Brian Maxey who looked to have the race locked up until the final two laps when Wesley Givens, in a borrowed car, closed in on the leader. Heading into turn 3 for the final time Givens dove it in deep under Maxey and when the two raced off of turn 4 it was Givens by a few feet at the line to get the win. Maxey, Travis Hopkins, Ryan Hutchens and Rick Powers rounded out the top five.
