Roger Jamerson Holds off Weiss and Adkins for 200th win; Stephen Childress becomes Third winner in Three Races in Pro Late Models; Polevoy and Coltrain Score first Wins of Season

Jamaica, VA – Two story lines were set to play out on Military Appreciation Night at Virginia Motor Speedway but only one happened to play out. One story had Budweiser Modified feature Stephen Quade, set to join the United State Air Force on July 5th, led all but 2 laps of the 25 lap feature to finish second in what was almost a story book ending but that went to Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA in the Truckin Thunder feature. Jamerson has been chasing the elusive win #200 since the end of 2015. On this night Jamerson’s story book ending came true. Jamerson would grab the lead at the drop of the green flag with Brett Adkins right on his bumper. For the first 10 laps Jamerson and Adkins waged a side-by-side battle for the lead with Jamerson holding on each lap. Behind him Joe Weiss began Adkins began a battle for second with Weiss taking over the spot on lap 11. Over the final 14 laps you could put a blanket over the top three with Jamerson hold off Weiss and Adkins to take his first win of season and his 200th of his career. “This thing started in 1984 for me; I have been racing for a long time but to get the 200th win in a race that competitive makes it even sweeter,” Rounding out the top five were Joe Weiss, Brett Adkins, Chad Beahr and John Nickens. In other action Stephen Childress of St. Stephens Church, VA scored the flag to flag win in a very competitive Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature; Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA grab the lead from Stephen Quade of Mechanicsville, MD and went on to score the victory in Budweiser Modified action; and in the Collision One Limited Stocks Marty Coltrain of S. Chesterfield, VA scored a flag to flag victory, his first win in over three years. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30 lap feature Davis Lipscombe and Stephen Childress led the field to green with Lipscombe jumping out to the lead with Childress right on his bumper and the race for third going three wide. On lap 2 restart after a caution Childress jumped to the outside of Lipscombe in turn 3 and grabbed the lead at the line. Once out front Childress pulled away from the battle for second that included Lipscombe, Tyler Bare and Justin Williams. Williams working his way from his sixth starting position first battled with Bare for the third finally taking the spot on lap 20 and then went by Lipscombe on the next lap with a daring pass on the high side out of turn 2. Williams tried to reel in Childress for the lead but Childress ran a flawless final 9 laps to score his first career win in the division. Rounding out the top 5 were Williams, Bare, Lipscombe and Corey Almond. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Hunter McClendon and Stephen Quade led the field to green with Quade sweeping the outside of turn 2 to lead the first circuit. A couple of cautions slowed the action before heating up between Quade and Brian Maxey. Maxey tried several times to dive under Quade for the lead with Joey Polevoy waiting in the wings. On lap 12 Polevoy drove around the outside of Maxey in turn 3 and 4 to take over the second spot. Polevoy would reel in Quade and the two battled what seemed side by side until lap 22 when Polevoy grab the lead out of turn 4 and go on to take the win. Rounding out the top five were Quade, Maxey, Francis Jarrelle and Hunter McClendon. It was announced in victory lane that Stephen Quade will be joining the United States Air Force on July 5th. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature 8-time Champion Roger Jamerson, looking for win 200, grabbed the lead on the drop of the green to lead the first lap. Following along into second was 2-time Champion Brett Adkins as the top two pulled away from the field. On lap 12 the race got interesting as Joe Weiss dove under Adkins to battle for second. After a couple of laps of side-by-side racing Weiss took over the second spot. Weiss would take several shots at Jamerson for the lead only to be turned away. Jamerson would hold on to grab his first victory of the season and his 200th of his career. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap nightcap Marty Colrtrain and James Givens led the field to green with Givens slowing with mechanical issues and Coltrain grabbing the top spot and leading the opening circuit. Several cautions closed the field on Coltrain’s bumper but that was about as close as anyone could get to him during the race. Coltrain would lead flag to flag and pick up his first victory in three years. Rounding out the top five were Chris Champion, Cory Bradley, Brian Bradley and James Bunn. The speedway will take next Saturday July 2nd off for the 4th of July holiday weekend and return to racing on Saturday July 9th for week eight of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Justin Williams Scores Career First Victory Lap Pro Late Model Victory; Brett Adkins, Brian Maxey and Ryan Hutchens also claim wins

Justin Williams Scores Career First Victory Lap Pro Late Model Victory; Brett Adkins, Brian Maxey and Ryan Hutchens also claim wins

Jamaica, VA – After a very wet spring Mother Nature finally shined brightly on Virginia Motor Speedway with great weather for the rescheduled Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Scout Night. The massive crowd was treated to some phenomenal racing that saw two new winners and two drivers take home back to back wins. Three-time Victory Lap Late Model Champion Justin Williams reluctantly moved to the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division after the division he dominated was dropped from the weekly racing schedule, but if his dominating win on Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night is any indication to his future in the division, it is surely bright. Williams battled side by side with Jimmy Duncan at the drop of the green flag taking the lead out of turn 4 to lead the opening circuit. Williams would lead flag to flag for his career first Pro Late Model victory. “It feels great to get my first win in the Pro Late Model division, the car and track both were awesome tonight,” commented Williams in victory lane. In other action Brian Maxey of King George, VA took the lead on lap 12 and never looked back for his second win in a row and of the season in the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA picked up the win in a cautioned filled feature; and in the Collision One Limited Stock division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA grab the lead on lap 11 and went on to grab his second win of the season. Jimmy Duncan and Justin Williams led the field to green with Williams grabbing the lead off turn 4 and leading the opening circuit. Williams, Duncan and Corey Almond pulled away from the field as Cody Dawson, Mark Parks and Stephen Childress battled for fourth. Several cautions closed the field on Williams’ bumper, but that was as close as anyone would get to him on the track. Making the biggest move of the race was Mark Parks coming from fourteenth to battle for second in the closing laps. No one had anything for Williams as he led flag to flag for the victory. Rounding out the top five were Jimmy Duncan, Marks Parks, defending champion Tyler Bare came from the rear after pitting and Corey Almond. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature James Sparks and Joey Polevoy led the field to green and then waged a side by side battle for the first 10 laps when Brian Maxey joined the battle for the top spot. On lap 12 Maxey rocketed around the outside of Sparks out of turn 2 to take over the top spot. Once out front Maxey and went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Joey Polevoy, Jeff Solinger, James Sparks and Stephen Bryant. Rookie Chase Butler and defending champion Chad Beahr led the 18 car field to green with Beahr grabbing the lead as the field exited turn 2. Behind Beahr the race went 3-wide between Butler, Brett Adkins and Matt Ashworth. Four cautions on all on lap 5 slowed the feature and closed the field on Beahr’s bumper. Once the field finally got underway Adkins got under Beahr out of turn 4 to take the lead. Once out front Adkins distanced himself from the field. A late caution closed the field on Adkins bumper for the final restart. On the restart Adkins pulled away for the win with Ashworth taking second coming to the checkers. Rounding out the top five were Joe Weiss, Chad Beahr and Steve Causey. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature Cory Bradley and Chad Champion led the field to green with Champion leading the first circuit. Behind him the race for second included 6 competitors. James Givens grab the lead on lap 5 but gave the lead back to Champion with mechanical issues on lap 9. On lap 11 defending champion Ryan Hutchens grab the lead out of turn 4 while the battle for second continued to be hotly contested. Hutchens would go on to grab his second win of the season followed by Corey Bradley, Brian Bradley, Chad Champion and John Hankins Jr. The speedway will take next Saturday June 18th off to celebrate graduations and for Father’s Day weekend and return to racing on Saturday June 25th for week seven of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Davis Lipscombe Takes Opening Night Checkers in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Ashworth, Maxey and Hutchens Also Grab Wins

Jamaica, VA – A sunny day turned into a brisk evening of racing at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for WRAR / WNNT Night. But after two rainouts fans and competitors alike were excited to get the 2016 season underway. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA started his season off right with an impressive victory in the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Lipscombe led flag to flag for the win but it didn’t come easy. Over the last half of the race Lipscombe had to hold off Walker Arthur for the Victory. In other action Brian Maxey of King George, VA would set a new Budweiser Modified track record and then go on to dominate the 25 feature for the win. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Matt Ashworth of Mechanicsville, VA would take the lead on lap 3 of the 25 lap feature and never look back to take the win and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature defending champion Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA would take the lead on lap 4 and go on to grab the win. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Models defending champion Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA set a new division track record. Walker Arthur and Davis Lipscombe led the Victory Lap Pro Late Model to the green with Lipscombe grabbing the lead from the outside. A caution came out just as the top four cars crossed the line that saw five cars get together in turn 4 sending Mike Warton for a complete flip. All drivers were ok. On the restart Lipscombe had to keep Walker Arthur and Tyler Bare at bay. Several times both drivers to a shot at the lead. On lap 21 defending champion Bare’s night would end due to mechanical failure. From then on the best battle of the night may have been between Arthur and Justin Williams as the two battled side by side for much of the remainder of the feature for second. With everyone battling behind him Lipscombe went on to score a comfortable victory. Arthur, Williams, Eddie Groome and Stephen Childress rounded out the top five. Tim Shulte and Francis Jarrelle III led the field to green with Jarelle leading the first circuit as he went three wide out of turn four with Brian Maxey and Shulte. On the next lap Maxey would get under Jarrelle out of four to take the lead. Once out front maxey set a blistering pace on way to the win. Polevoy, Jarrelle, Jeff Solinger and Stephen Quade rounded out the top five. Michael Hayes and Tommy Upshaw led the Truckin Thunder field to green with Upshaw jumping out to the lead. On the next lap Matt Ashworth dove under Upshaw out of turn two to take the lead. Ashworth kept the field at bay to score the win. Defending champion Chad Beahr, Upshaw, Roger Jamerson and rookie Kacey Gordon rounded out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Chad Champion and David Bowler led the field to green with Champion grabbing the lead out of turn 2. On lap 3 defending champion Ryan Hutchens would grab the lead out of turn four to grab the lead at the line. Hutchens would have Champion, James Givens and Brian Bradley all within striking distance but Hutchens worked lapped traffic to perfection and go on to the win. Chad Champion, Brian Bradley, Cory Bradley and David Bowler rounded out the top five. The speedway will take next Saturday April 23rd off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and return to racing on Saturday April 30th for week three of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action.
