Speedway Crowns 2016 Champions; Polevoy crowned Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2016 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2016 champions. During the night’s events almost $36,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $27,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned the 2016 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The title was Williams fourth in a row after winning the last three Limited Late Model titles at Virginia Motor Speedway. Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA was crowned the 2016 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Jamerson also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This was Jamerson’s twelfth Truckin Thunder Sportsman title and thirteenth overall. Jamerson also scored his 200th win of his career during the 2016 season. Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA was crowned the 2016 Budweiser Modified Champion and received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA won the 2016 Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship for the second year in a row. Hutchens received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The speedway also crowns an overall Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other. Joey Polevoy on the strength of his four wins won the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special eagle trophy that goes along with winning the title. Aaron’s also presented Polevoy with a 40” Magnavox Smart LED HDTV television. Special achievement award winners for the 2016 season included: The Pitts Lumber Rookies of the Year were Brent Bordeaux of Fredericksburg, VA in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Sean Owens of Chesapeake, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Adam Hoegerl of Gloucester, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250. It was announced during the banquet that the season will start April 1, 2017 with Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing and that the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports, both sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, will pay $20,000 as will the season ending FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment for FASTRAK Pro Late Models....

2016 Awards Banquet tickets Now on Sale

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will celebrate the 2016 season and officially bring it to a close with the 2016 Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by going to the Speedway’s website at www.vamotorspeedway.com and printing off the order form or by calling Dave Seay or Brian Tidball at the Speedway’s office Monday through Friday between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Tickets can be purchased with a Mastercard, Visa or Discover by calling the speedway. Tickets for this special occasion are only $40 per person and include a buffet dinner and the Awards Ceremony. Special room rates of $65 per night have been established with the newly renovated Double Tree Hotel & Resort and $58 per night at the Quality Inn Oceanfront. All Virginia Motor Speedway drivers, crews and families are encouraged to attend this year’s banquet. There are no limits on the number of tickets a person can order. All ticket purchases must be made by October 19, 2014. Fans of Virginia Motor Speedway are once again invited to attend the Awards Banquet. During the evenings award ceremony over $55,000 in cash and contingencies will be handed out to the Speedway’s five Champions and the remainder of the top 10 in each division. 12TH Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog, Mud Sling Re-Scheduled for Saturday Oct. 15th

Jamaica, VA – After an exhausting review of weather forecasts that have the outer bands of Hurricane Matthew bringing rain officials have announced that 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports has been postponed to next Saturday October 15th. Additional sponsorship for the Run-A-Muck Mud Bog is provided by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, Northern Neck Chevrolet and Truckin Thunder. On Saturday October 15th there will be ten classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from super stock to unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. Ryan Montgomery Drives from Fifteenth to Score $5000 FASTRAK World Challenge Victory; $15,000 World Championship to Cap off Weekend

Jamaica, VA – To say the 2016 edition of the FASTRAK World Challenge was phenomenal would be an understatement. The race had five lead changes and three and four wide racing all night. In the end it was Ryan Montgomery of Fairmont, WV grabbing the lead from Jensen Ford of Piney Flatts, TN on lap 35 and holding off Henry Hornsby III and Tyler Bare to score the $5000 victory. “After getting by him for the lead earlier I knew if I could stay close to Jensen (Ford) I might have a chance on a restart or in traffic, and when we got in traffic I knew I had to take a shot at him and it worked,” commented Montgomery in victory lane. Henry Hornsby III and Corey Almond led the field to green with Almond leading the first circuit. Almond would pace the field for the first 11 laps before Cla Knight through a slide job on him in turn 4 to take the lead on lap 12. By lap 18 Jensen Ford had worked his way to second and on lap 21 got inside Knight out of turn 4 for the lead. After a violent flip by Corey Almond in turn 1 on a lap 22 restart Ford, Walker Arthur and Jimmy MacNamara put on a three wide clinic for the lead on the next restart with Ford holding on by inches at the line. On the next circuit Arthur swept the outside of Jensen and MacNamara to take the lead out of turn 2 only to have the caution come out yet again and hand the lead back to Jensen. On lap 23 Ryan Montgomery worked traffic to perfection sweeping the outside of lapped traffic along with race leader Ford for the lead. On the lap 25 Ford would get back around Montgomery for the lead. He would only hold that lead for 10 more laps before Montgomery dove inside Ford out of turn four for the lead. With Montgomery leading Tyler Bare would work his way from his eighteenth starting position to take over third. It looked as if he might have the fastest car on the track. But two late cautions allowed Montgomery to hold off the field and go on to the $5000 World Challenge victory. Rounding out the top five were henry Hornsby III, Tyler Bare, Walker Arthur and Kyle Lukon. Heat race winners were Henry Hornsby III, Corey Almond and Cla Knight. B Main wins went to Ron Parker and Mark Parks. Virginia Motor Speedway Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion Justin Williams set overall fast time with a lap of 18.371 seconds (97.981 mph). Speedway to Host Fastrak World Championship September 16-17, 2016; Extends Partnership with FASTRAK for Three More Years

Jamaica, VA – The excitement level and anticipation for one of the tracks premier events is at an all time high as Virginia Motor Speedway gets ready to host the $15,000 to win Aaron’s Fastrak World Championships presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The September 16-17, 2016 weekend will feature two complete shows for the FASTRAK Chevrolet Performance Late Models, Friday September 16 will be the $5000 to win, 40 lap World Challenge and on September 17 $15,000 to win, 60 lap World Championship is the “Super Bowl” of Chevrolet Performance Late Models and will crown a “World Champion”. Speedway and FASTRAK officials are also pleased to announce that the track has exercised its three year option and will be the host track of the FASTRAK World Championship for another three years. “We are excited to know that the FASTRAK World Championship is remaining at Virginia Motor Speedway for the next three years. I can’t thank Bill Sawyer enough for believing in what we are doing with the Chevrolet Performance Late Model division,” commented FASTRAK founder/owner Stan Lester. Joining the program on Saturday September 17th will be the first visit by the Southeast Dirt Modified Series for the $3000 to win “Southeast Modified Showdown”. The speedway is offering a tremendous two-day ticket price of only $40. The special ticket will only be sold on Friday September 16th. The special price is to encourage fans to attend both nights of racing. A two-day pit pass (regardless of age) is only $40 and will also get you a seat in the grandstands as well for the two days. This race will feature the best of the best in Pro Late Model racing. Teams from Indiana, West Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio and Kentucky are about to undertake the most exciting and biggest race of their career. Last year’s event saw 57 competitors compete with local star Walker Arthur of Forest, VA crowned the 2015 Fastrak World Champion. The two-day event will also include the 2nd Annual High School Quarterback Challenge on Saturday September 17th pitting many of the areas talented signal callers competing to win a $1000 scholarship for their school. Jamaica, VA – This Saturday September 3rd Virginia Motor Speedway Aaron’s / Pepsi Championship Night and the final week of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season. The night will featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Champions will be crowned in all four divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday September 3rd will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps. Tyler Bare Claims Thrilling Win in Pro Late Model Action; Polevoy, Jamerson and Givens also Visit Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – Defending Champion Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA scored his first Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season holding off current point leader Justin Williams in a thrilling feature that had the big crowd on their feet during Northern Neck Chevrolet / Collision One Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Bare took over the lead on lap 6 from Corey Almond after a two lap side-by-side battle then held off several challenges from Williams to score the victory. “We have been working very hard to get our first win here this year, I knew if I ran the top it would be hard for Justin (Williams) to pass me. I have to thank my dad for all his support and help,” commented Bare in victory lane. Corey Almond jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag with the field going three wide behind him. On lap 3 Bare took over second with a pass on Mark Parks. On lap 5, Bare dove under Almond in turn 3 to challenge for the lead. The two raced side-by-side for the next two laps before Bare finally grab the lead on 7 with Williams in tow. By lap 15 the two drivers began working lapped traffic with Williams trying both high and low to get around Bare. Each time Bare was up for the challenge. On a lap 26 restart Williams pushed Bare down into turn 1 but Bare held on to the lead. A big crash on lap 28 that brought out a red flag set up a two lap showdown for the win. On the final restart Bare got a great jump on the field as Williams jumped the cushion in turn 2 allowing Bare to pull away for his first win. Rounding out the top five were Williams, Mark Parks, Stephen Childress and Davis Lipscombe. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA scored his fourth Budweiser Modified win of the season. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA led flag to flag for his third win of the season and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature James Givens of Henrico, VA held off Ryan Hutchens to score his first victory of the season. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature point leader Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA worked his way from his eighth place starting position and swung around the outside Francis Jarrelle III on lap 7 to take over the lead and go on to score his fourth win of the season and fourth in a row. Jarrelle III led the first seven laps with Polevoy and Brett Hamilton getting by on lap seven in turn 1. Once out front Polevoy pulled away by 5 car lengths over Hamilton. It was a distance he would keep to the checkers. Rounding out the top five were Hamilton, Jarrelle, Jeff Solinger and Tim Schulte. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA led the field to green taking the lead on the drop of the green flag. After surviving a lap six challenge for the lead from Tim Shelton, Jamerson went on to score his third win of the season. On lap six Shelton dove under Jamerson heading into turn 1 only to get blocked by a lapped car bottling the field and sending Shelton for a spin. Shelton tried to get back to the front but a four lap battle with Joe Weiss that saw the two trade slide jobs on each of the four laps. That allowed Jamerson to pull away with Michael Hayes following in second. Rounding out the top five were Hayes, Shelton, Weiss and Tommy Upshaw. Chad Champion and Raymond Harper led the Collision One Limited Stock Car division to green with Champion grabbing the lead. Caution quickly came out on the following lap for a wreck on the backstretch. On the restart James Givens dove under Champion for the lead. On lap 12 Champion and Ryan Hutchens began swapping slide jobs for the lead. Hutchens was scored the leader on lap 13 with Givens muscling the lead back from Hutchens on the next circuit. Givens would then pull away to score his first win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Hutchens, Champion, Cory Bradley and Marty Coltrain. Speedway Partners with Northern Neck Chevrolet and Collision One in Benefit for Northern Neck Food Bank / FeedMore this Saturday August 27th

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday August 27th Virginia Motor Speedway partners with Northern Neck Chevrolet and Collision One to “Stamp out Hunger in the Northern Neck”. Northern Neck Chevrolet / Collision One Night will benefit FeedMore and the Northern Neck Food Bank which is in dire need of food and monetary donations. In an effort to help restock the shelves at the Northern Neck Food Bank the speedway will offer a FREE general admission ticket for every five (5) non-perishable food items donated this Saturday night. Help us stamp out hunger in our community. Items of need include: peanut butter, canned tuna & chicken, low sodium veggies, fruits packed in juice, spaghetti sauce (no glass containers), canned or dry beans, hot & cold cereal and whole grain snacks. The night will feature week twelve of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Competitor gates for Saturday August 27th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps. Justin Williams on Hot Streak with Third Pro Late Model Win of Season; Polevoy, Jamerson and Hutchens also Score Victories

Jamaica, VA – The action on the track was as hot as the temperatures outside on XTRA 99.1 | Metrocast Business Services Night at Virginia Motor Speedway. Justin Williams of Concord, VA used a daring pass on the outside of Corey Almond on lap 9 to take the lead and go on to score his third Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season and second in a row. Almond and Tyler Bare waged a side by side battle for the top spot for the first six laps of the race with Almond being score the leader by inches each time across the line. On lap 7 Bare bobbled just enough in turn 2 to let Williams drive around his outside for second. Once in second Williams went to work of Almond for the lead and on lap nine heading into turn 1 Williams rocketed around the outside of Almond to take the lead out of turn 2. Once out front Williams worked lapped traffic to perfection and survived several restarts to pick up his third win of the season. “The car was super-fast tonight and I could take it anywhere I needed it to go; I have to thank my crew for giving me success and amazing ride,” commented Williams in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Corey Almond, Davis Lipscombe, Cody Dawson and David Williams. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA took over the lead after a very tough door banging battle with Brian Maxey of King George, VA, once out front Polevoy would go on to score his third Budweiser Modified win of the season. Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA took the lead on lap 10 and then held off Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA for the Truckin Thunder Sportsman victory; and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature defending Champion and current point leader Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA took the lead on lap 10 to score his fourth win of the season. In the Budweiser Modified 25 feature Brian Maxey of King George, VA made it three wide on the start from his fifth place starting position to take the lead in the opening corner. It looked as if he would run away from the field but a caution on lap 11 allowed Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA to close the gap for the restart. Once back under racing the two went at each other for the top spot. On lap 20 Maxey made a small mistake in turn two allowing Polevoy to get to his outside. In turn 3 Polevoy dove under Maxey and put a slide job on him in turn 4 for the lead. The two beat and banged to the line with Maxey spinning and bringing out the caution. On the restart Polevoy pulled away and went on to score his third win of the season and third in a row. Rounding out the top five were Brian Dobie, Jeff Solinger, Francis Jarrelle III and Tim Schulte. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Matt Ashworth and Chad Beahr led the field to green with Ashworth grabbing the top spot with Roger Jamerson in close pursuit. On lap 9 Jamerson finally got under Ashworth to take over the top spot with Brett Adkins flowing to second. Adkins made several attempts to get by Jamerson for the lead but each time the leader was up to the task. Jamerson would hold off Adkins by .317 seconds to score the win. Rounding out the top five were Steve Causey, Michael Hayes and tommy Upshaw. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Brian Bradley took the top spot on the drop of the green flag to take the lead with son Corey Bradley, Chris Champion and defending Champion Ryan Hutchens in tow. With Bradley laeding the battle was for second with Hutchens finally securing the spot on lap 8. On the next circuit Hutchens used the outside to get around Bradley and take over the lead. Once out front Hutchens kept a two car length cushion for the remainder of the race to go on a score his fourth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Brian Bradley, Chris Champion, John Hankins Jr. and Corey Bradley.
