Speedway Set to Open 2023 Season, This Saturday, April 15th

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will throw the gates open for its 54th season of Weekly Racing, this Saturday, April 15th. To say the anticipation level for this Saturday is high would be an understatement; fans and competitors want to return to racing at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 15th will open at 1 PM for inspection and registration, with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 5:30 pm for practice/hot laps. The speedway is currently accepting registrations for the 2023 season. Visit our website to download and print off the forms. We encourage all our competitors to fill out the registration forms in advance to speed up opening day. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday will be the Victory Pro Late Models (35 Laps), Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps), Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps), and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. 18TH Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog Set for Saturday, October 8th at The Pit

Jamaica, VA – The biggest mud bog in The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway’s history is Saturday, October 8th. To say that officials are excited and anxiously awaiting the running of the 18th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by Estes Express Lines and Breezeline. For the first time in the Pit’s history, there will be head-to-head mega truck racing. There will be eight “Mud Maniacs” classes competing, ranging from super stock to Mega Truck, with cash payouts in all eight divisions. Competitors are encouraged to visit www.thepitatvms.com for the rules packages and payouts. The Mega Trucks will be racing side-by-side in a bracket format on a new short course. Officials are working on a huge purse for the mega truck portion of the event to attract some of the biggest names in the business. There will once again be two divisions of Kids Power Wheels, Box Stock and Unlimited. Parents will need to register their children before 11:30 am. Gates and registration will open at 9 am for King of the Super Street Series, Super Stock B; Modified A (Small tire), B (Big Tire), Pro Modified A, Pro Modified B, and Unlimited Bog classes, with the mud bog beginning at noon. Speedway to Host The Year’s Richest Weekend for Pro Late Model Drivers, Friday and Saturday, September 23-24

Jamaica, VA – Pro Late Model racing’s richest weekend returns to Virginia Motor Speedway September 23-24, 2022, as it hosts the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA. Track officials are busy preparing the facilities for what is expected to be another record car count. The weekend will once again put the spotlight squarely on the country’s best Pro Late Model drivers. This mega race will pay the winner a whopping $50,000. The weekend will also include a $1500 to win non-qualifiers race for the fastest twenty-four cars from qualifying that don’t make the A-Main. It all kicks off Friday, September 23rd, with registration, tech, two rounds of hots laps, qualifying, and heats for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors. The following night Saturday, September 24th, the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors will have B Main(s), the 60-lap $50,000 feature, and the non-qualifiers race. The 60-lap $50,000 to win feature will consist of two 30-lap segments with a 10-minute pit stop in the middle. Also, there will be a drawing for a new GM604 crate engine worth $7500 for the competitors that do not make either feature. The winner will take that engine when they leave for home. The event is open to all Pro Late Model competitors. FASTRAK rules will apply. In the event of rain, Sunday, September 25th, is scheduled as the rain date. Logan Roberson Scores Pro Late Model Victory; Hubbard, Butler, Shelton, and Maxey Crowned 2022 Champions

Jamaica, VA – Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, VA, made his trip to Virginia Motor Speedway for some FASTRAK World Championship practice count, and in a big way. Roberson rocketed past Austin Hubbard of Bridgeville, DE, for the lead on lap 21 and then pulled away from the field to go on to grab the win in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30-lap feature. “It’s always great to get a win here; we feel really good about our chances in the upcoming $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship in September,” commented Roberson in Virginia Is For Racing Lovers victory lane. With his runner-up finish, Hubbard was crowned the 2022 Victory Lap Pro Late Model, his second at Virginia Motor Speedway. Austin Hubbard jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag and looked to have the race with Trevor Collins close in second. By lap 10 Logan Roberson had moved into second and was closing on the leader. It looked like Hubbard would have enough to hold off Roberson that was until lap 21 when Roberson rocketed past for the lead out of turn 2. Once out front, Roberson pulled away from the field and went on to score the win by 4.995 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were Hubbard, Ray Love Jr., Trevor Collins, and Nick Davis. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA, led flag to flag to score his second win of the season. Polevoy jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag with Lance Grady in tow. On lap 3 point leader Chase Butler had a bit of a scare spinning to bring out the first caution of the race. On lap 12, Bret Hamilton would take second from Grady and set out to catch the leader. Polevoy would hold off Hamilton for the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Chase Butler, Lance Grady, and Brent Bordeaux. Rebounding from his lap four spin, Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, was crowned the 2022 Budweiser Modified Champion for the second year in a row. Butler was the only driver in the modified division to finish in the top 5 in each race. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, returned to the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division with one goal to pick up the win. The division’s 2021 champion did just that, getting by Matt Meads of Elizabeth City, NC, on lap 10. With seven laps to go, Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA, had made his way back to the runner-up spot. With five laps to go, Shelton would try to get inside Lipscombe in turn 1, only to have Lipscombe use the high-side to his advantage to hold on to the top spot. Lipscombe would go on to take the win and keep Shelton from matching his perfect record set in 2021. Rounding out the top five were Shelton, Matt Meads, Adam Breeden, and James Givens. Shelton would be crowned the 2022 Truckin Thunder Champion finishing no worse than second during the 2022 season. It took Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, eight laps to work his way to the lead in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20-lap feature from his sixth place starting position. Once out front, Brooks would go on to score his third win of the season. Brooks would get by Ryan Hutchens on lap 8 with an inside move out of turn 2. Brian Maxey would close in on the leader with laps winding down but would be involved in a caution ending his night. Brooks would go on to score the win over Ryan Hutchens, Cory Bradley, Jacob Buie, and Brandon Bowler. Brian Maxey of King George, VA, would be crowned the 2022 Collision One Limited Stock Car Champion. The next event for the speedway will be the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA, set for September 23-24, 2022. The highest-paying Pro Late Model event will attract some of the top drivers in the country to the ½-mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. Prelude to the World Championship Canceled Due to Impending Weather

Jamaica, VA – With a high chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday, August 20, Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing officials have made the tough decision to cancel the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. “It is never an easy decision to cancel an event. But, with competitors coming as far away as Florida and Mississippi, we just wanted to let everyone know early so that teams and fans don’t incur unnecessary fuel and travel costs, ” said Track Owner Bill Sawyer. The speedway’s next event will be next Saturday, August 27, as we host Collision One Championship Night, with champions in all four divisions crowned.
