Jamaica, VA – The buzz about this weekend’s Steel Block Bandits sanctioned $2000 to win Revere Gas Firecracker 30 presented by Aaron’s continues to get louder with talk of a possible fifty late models on hand for the series inaugural visit.

Some of the region’s top late model talent will be on hand for the Steel Block Bandits first ever visit to the 1/2 mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The series regulars, which will include the speedway’s 2008 Victory Lap Late Model Champion and current Bandits point leader Walker Arthur of Forest, VA, will have a tough road ahead of them as they will have to contend with a strong local contingent of VMS locals led by Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD, rookie Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA, Scott Adams of Chester, VA, Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, Tom Cohick of Gloucester, VA and Ben Bowie of Brandywine, MD. Also expected to be on hand are 2007 Victory Lap Late Model Champion Jared Powell, along with former VMS regulars Sommey Lacey and David Williams. All three have visited victory lane.

Making the night even more exciting will be a huge fireworks extravaganza that is sure to please the whole family. Also, fans will have the opportunity to win a gas grill courtesy of Revere Gas and two HP Printers courtesy of Aaron’s.

The night’s activities will also include the Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action.

Competitor gates for Saturday, July 17th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday July 17th: Steel Block Bandits Late Models (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Steel Block Bandits will run heats, B Main(s) and Feature. All track divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.

Admission price for Adults $12, seniors $10; military $12, students 7 – 17 years old $6 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes for this special event will be $25.

To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.
