Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2011 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2011 champions. Scott Adams of Chester, VA was crowned the Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second consecutive year and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Wesley Givens of Mechanicsville, VA won the Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship. The Championship was Given’s first ever championship in any division. The speedway also crowns an overall Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other and in the closest battle in the six year history of the championship Truckin Thunder Champion Todd Traylor of King William, VA beat out Victory Lap Late Model Champion Scott Adams and Budweiser Modified Champion Dan Arnold to take the overall championship and the $2000 check and special eagle trophy that goes along with it.

Special achievement award winners for the 2011 season included: The Pitts Lumber Rookies of the Year were Kenny Moreland of Waldorf, MD in Victory Lap Late Models; Junior Carter of Mechanicsville, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Aaron Harris of Chester, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Ben Lowry of Mechanicsville, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250.

The speedway’s 2012 schedule of events is expected to be released in a couple of weeks after some fine tuning. The season is scheduled to start Saturday March 31st with an open practice. This year’s $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and will run April 13-14, 2012 with a Sunday April 15th rain date. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series is scheduled to return on Saturday May 19th for a $10,000 to win event and the 2012 season ender will be the 33rd Annual USA 100 that will now pay $20,000 to win an become a two day show September 14 – 15th, with a Sunday Sept. 16th rain date established.
